My Nephew the Angel

Laker_Girl

Mrs. Big Dick McGee
So there is a little physically disabled boy in my nephew's thrid grade class Jaret, and let me tell you, that little boy couldn't be cuter if he were a puppy. Anyway, my nephew sits next to him and helps him get his things situated every day before and after school. So one afternoon I went to pick my niece and nephew up at school and my niece came out but no nephew, we waited and waited for what seemed like forever. Finally my nephew comes running up, smilin' a happy like he always is at the end of a school day and I say to him very sternly, "Where have you been? We've been waiting for you for a long time." My nephew looks up at me, the smile gone from his sweet little face, and says, "I was helping Jaret to the bus." Oh. My. God. I just felt like the worst human being on earth not to mention the most terrible Auntie in all the world. Of course I apologized to my saintly little nephew and then took him for his favorite snack and a toy buying spree at Target.

Just thought I'd share that not every child is a little punk, there are good ones out there and I happen to be lucky enough to be the Aunt of one.

That is so cool. I know kids his age usually are a little scared of the disabled, simply because they don't understand why they are so different. It sounds like he's growing up in a tolerant, open environment.

He deserved that treat. Even though it was a tad guilt based. ;)
