Naked Man in London

I can't get the photo to zoom no matter how many times I've tried. Damn it.

Poor soul, what a desperate bid for attention.

I got it to zoom somewhat:

Must have been cold up there.

It looks like there is a surveillance camera on a pole targeting the statue. He had to have known that public nudity in that area would draw lots of attention. Wonder if he anticipated worldwide attention. Wonder what was going on in his life at this time that this action was a reasonable and/or best choice for him.

It was really cold in London today... No idea what he was doing up there but hopefully he was given a nice warm cuppa when he got down. Seemed to entertain the tourists anyway.

Where else except an English newspaper would you see the use of the word "clambered?" Makes me long for tea and biscuites. *sigh*

I'm sitting in Texas, with the windows of the house open because it is so nice, reading in Yahoo news an article from the Detroit News about this naked man in London. A person can't do anything crazy without everybody in the world knowing about it.

Dunno why this story bothers me so much... some mentally unstable people do really amusing things that make me laugh but this is just so weird and kind of tragic.

I'm wondering why the authorities let this go on for three hours. The man was obviously having some sort of serious issue, his activity on the statue was of a danger to himself, surely it crossed the authorities minds that perhaps this man was a distraction from other possible nefarious goings on aimed at the inhabitants of that particular area. While I can understand them not wanting to use any unnecessary force and applaud their efforts to bring the situation to as nonviolent a solution as possible, that guy could have taken a flying leap and done himself serious damage. In America, he and/or his family would have sued the police and the city for premises liability at the very least.
