NBA Hall of Famer Dikembe Mutombo died from brain cancer on September 30, 2024 at the age of 58:

Mutombo was a dominant defensive player and shot blocker during his 18-season NBA career. He played for the Denver Nuggets, Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets, New York Knicks, and Houston Rockets. Mutombo was a four-time Defensive Player of the Year and was selected for eight All-Star teams, six All-Defensive teams, and three All-NBA teams.
