Not Suspended from ExIsle.net!

One month ago exactly I made a deliberate decision to stop posting at ExIsle.net for good. No fanfare, no complaints in ACQ, no telling off of people whom I disagreed with, I just politely bowed and left. I had received a warning on posting outside of the dread guidelines, and decided I was sick of thought Nazis determining whether I could have an opinion from one week to the next.

In the fullness of time, I have not missed posting at ExIsle. TK isn't perfect, but the silly stuff I can skip over. Most importantly, I don't have any Thought Police telling me what I can or cannot think or say.

Following the recent threads here in Godforsaken Hell Holes I went and looked at the recent posts in Exisle's ACQ, to see what was going on.

The recent threads I see are: Member Cait suspended, Member "G1223" suspended, HeroicFool suspended, and Locking Legit Threads Now? (This is Frakking INSANE). I read through a few of them, and smiled.

I'm not a demanding poster, I like to chat about politics, and say what I think about the latest movie that's out. That's it. I'm not trying to change the world or make profound statements. I post for fun.

My fun has increased greatly not having some goose-stepping moron from Exisle telling me I'm in violation of code 12-a-42(iii) subsection A, clause four.

I feel sorry for people who get suspended every other week and go crawling back to those assclowns who have nothing better to do with their time but make sure everyone thinks Orwellian GoodThought. The posts I read in ACQ have made me smile because a month later, I don't miss the place, and laugh at the ongoing silliness of thought Nazis banning this or that person.

How stupid is it for people to think the Internet's best purpose is to control others. Is that really what a message board is for? Who are they kidding? They are welcome to their thought-controlled board, and I am glad to be rid of it. (Even as I smile at what I see there today! Heh.)

LOL, agreed Ogami...

However some of us truly enjoy the struggle.

I have always loved fighting the good fight. I also like to post with some very old friends. When I get goose stepped on, I fight it to my dying breath...

I wonder sometimes if the staff really thinks all these ridiculous rules are worth the headache they bring?

Damn, that was one fine post.

And I'm glad you see why some of us stay here on TK.

Sure there is a lot of stuff to step over sometimes, OK a lot of the time, but that's how it is in real life. The rest of it, the fact that no one is ever gong to tell you what to say and how to say it [within a VERY few limitations] is a reason to *smile*.

I'm glad you're here. :)

That's AQG, not ACQ, you BASTARD!!! :bigass: At least you left with dignity. I'll give you that. :D J/K

SHUT UP! How's that for thought police? :D Just kidding. :)

Maybe it's because I've gotten so used to EI, that it is so hard to break free. It's hard for some of us like me. Part of me thinks I should, the other part doesn't want to. I hate being in that zone.

Following the recent threads here in Godforsaken Hell Holes I went and looked at the recent posts in Exisle's ACQ, to see what was going on.

That's AQG, not ACQ! What the fuck is wrong with you? :D LOL Just kidding. :)

The recent threads I see are: Member Cait suspended, Member "G1223" suspended, HeroicFool suspended, and Locking Legit Threads Now? (This is Frakking INSANE). I read through a few of them, and smiled.

Pretty fucked up, eh? Too bad there's no "Member Rhea suspended". Oh well.

I'm not a demanding poster, I like to chat about politics, and say what I think about the latest movie that's out. That's it. I'm not trying to change the world or make profound statements. I post for fun.

same here, man. Same here. :) At that was the whole point of EI. To be a fun place.

My fun has increased greatly not having some goose-stepping moron from Exisle telling me I'm in violation of code 12-a-42(iii) subsection A, clause four.

That code is actually okay. It says a member has the right to post in any font color he/she chooses as long as it's not puce. :)

I feel bad for them too.

I think I hear the pitter-patter of Admins reading this and plotting to ban you now. :P :D LOL

ROFL.

Netwide, puce is agreed to be in bad taste. ;)

I did too, which is why I didn't quit the place a week after I started posting there. But even a dunce like me will eventually figure out that being banned sucks while alleged "Demigods" and others favorites say what they please. I mean, come on. That's kindergarten stuff. "My favorite friend can have some of my dessert, while my less favorite friend can have my spinach". LOL And these are adults?

Thanks. When I see something I don't agree with, I laugh or I post a comment on it. I don't go run to a moderator demanding someone's thought be controlled, uh wahhh, uh wahhh, uh wahhh. That sort of childish crap only came up at that other place, what was it called again?

Ooops! Now they'll have to change its name.

SHUT UP! How's that for thought police?

LOL
You'd be banned for a month for saying that at that nuthouse. A refreshing change.

Pretty fucked up, eh? Too bad there's no "Member Rhea suspended". Oh well.

Who?

same here, man. Same here. At that was the whole point of EI. To be a fun place.

No point to posting otherwise. You post your ideas, your opinion, and see what others think about it. No one needs to be told what to think by moderators. (Or hey, it's fine with me if they do, just as long as that free speech goes both ways.)

That code is actually okay. It says a member has the right to post in any font color he/she chooses as long as it's not puce.

This explains a lot. Damn you, crayola, for inventing Puce!!!

I think I hear the pitter-patter of Admins reading this and plotting to ban you now. LOL

My opinion on posting guidelines has always been the same. As long as I'm not paying for the operation of a message board, I have no say in how they run it. That's still my attitude, that's why I demanded no changes to Exisle.net, or raised a fuss on leaving for good. I still retain one posting right in that Sudetenland, and I voted with my feet.

And that's someone no one can take from you.

Eggs tries to tell me what to say on TK.

:(

Grammour Boy, it's fine for Eggs to tell you that. But at least Eggs won't stop you from saying anything by citing some obscure guideline clause (note I said guideline, not absolute rule), and then saying "well these people all asked that you be banned and we always go with the wolfpack rule so out you go".

If you don't like someone telling you what to post, be like Bush and say "(expletive) that!"

-Ogami

LOL on the Bush reference. Some things don't change and I'm glad to see that Ogami is still Ogami. :)

BTW, Ogami, you used to write the best reviews I've ever seen. If you should be inspired to write a review of *anything, anything at all, could I use them in the e-zine?

Great post Ogami....:D

I also left EI on my own accord in June when I recieved yet another warning for breaking Guideline 7. I had so many dang warnings, I've lost count to be honest. *giggle* What can I say, I speak my mind. ;)

Do I miss posting over at EI, nope, nada ... not on your life.

I'm like Ogami, not a demanding poster. I only wanted to guidelines to be applied equally and fairly to all members. However, that will never happen as long as the staff remains the same.

Yes, I read over at EI....It's like reading the funny papers!!! I get a kick out of the EI trolls saying the same crap over and over again.

Will I go back, I dunno....Never say never...:D
They haven't perma'd me yet..*giggle*

May it ever be so.

Funny you should say that. Right now I just tend to write movie reviews. I like Stargate SG1, Battlestar Galactica, Buffy, Angel, but never felt compelled to write episode reviews for those shows.

Back in 1997 I discovered the internet and started writing Xena reviews on the StudiosUSA Netforum. Then I wrote Andromeda and Enterprise episode reviews on a variety of message boards (they all seemed to close on me for some reason). Now I don't do many reviews. I look at some of my old Andromeda reviews and can't even remember all the details I wrote about.

There's something very appealing about a good giggle. ;)

Only when it's done solo though, groups of gigglers is very annoying. :P

hi RuReddy, great post yourself. I can count all the times you or another Conservative poster was banned, over the most innocuous of things. Did I ever read you or G1223 telling another poster to "F--- off, C---sucker!"? Of course not. Yet we'd get banned all the same. How silly.

Will I go back, I dunno....Never say never...

If they appoint you as a Demigod at that place, I might consider returning. In other words... when pigs fly.

Thanks big guy! Yes, you are certainly right...I can remember a couple of time we both received warnings in the same thread, while our opposition skated free without a mention of crossing the line. Its such a fair and equal place to post. * cough cough*

*giggle* Demigod...hmmmmm..I could write, lets say something along the lines of ..'erotica'....Would that count as Demigod material?

:who?me?:
