NFL record 14 Black QBs to start in Week 1, boosted by rookies Bryce Young, C.J. Stroud, Anthony Richardson​

The league's transition to Black QBs keeps growing​

Nearly half of all NFL teams will have a Black starting quarterback to kick off the 2023 season. Fourteen Black quarterbacks are projected to start in Week 1 this year, breaking the record of 11 set last season. It's the third time in four years that a new high mark has been set in the category. The record represents the marked change in feelings about race and racism in the sport. For the majority of the sport's history, Black athletes were either discouraged from playing the position or forced to change positions as they advanced to higher levels of play.

This year, the Ravens have what is thought to be the first and only all-Black quarterback room in NFL history. Jackson, who became the league's second unanimous MVP in 2019, leads the group with backups Tyler Huntley and Josh Johnson. Tee Martin is the QBs coach and Kerry Dixon is the assistant QBs coach. Last February, Mahomes and Hurts made history when they became the first two Black men who started at quarterback in the same Super Bowl for the first time in NFL history.

The 2023 NFL Draft marked the first time in league history Black men were selected as the top three quarterbacks taken in the draft. Young, Stroud and Richardson were all named captains of their respective teams heading into this season.

Can I Bust? In my opinion​



Football players need to know their role. I'm just saying if your going to play quarterback you need to play it correct.

In my opinion today's black players shouldn't play Quarterback. I don't think there ready yet. Michael Vick, Donovan McNabb,and Daunte Culpepper are great quarterbacks, but they run to damn much for me. I just think white quarterbacks play the position well. It really pisses me off when the QB is the leading rusher. Don't get my wrong. I just like the stand in the pocket and throw likeQB's. I mean that's what a quarterback is suppose to do, throw a pass or hand it off to a running back. Simple as that.

Atlanta, Philadelphia and Minnesota have great offenses but these QB's hurt there team chances of being effective. Because these teams rely on there QB too much. By seasons end it all catches up to them. That's why teams with running QB's never will win the SUPER BOWL. Yeah a few have been there, but the fall short of winning it all. Doug Williams of the Washington Redskins won it in 1988 but he was a passing black QB.

Maybe teams should research those Cowboys when they won 3 Super Bowls in 4 years.(QB- White: RB- Black: WR- Black TE- White.)

The Carolina Panthers are benching former No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young and going with veteran Andy Dalton as the starting quarterback, coach Dave Canales said Monday. The decision to bench Young was made by Canales, general manager Dan Morgan and executive vice president Brandt Tillis, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter. The team was informed of the move during position meetings, sources told ESPN's Jeremy Fowler.

Young had a historically bad day in Sunday's 26-3 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, passing for only 84 yards to tie for the fourth fewest in team history for a quarterback with at least 25 pass attempts. He became the third player in the past 20 seasons to average 4 or fewer yards per dropback in four straight starts. He has three interceptions and no touchdowns in two starts this season.

Young, the top pick of the 2023 draft, is 2-16 as the starter since the Panthers traded up eight spots in the NFL draft in 2023 to get him. The Panthers made a significant investment in that deal with Chicago, sending wide receiver DJ Moore and four draft picks to the Bears -- one of which turned out to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft after the Panthers finished a league-worst 2-15 last season. Dalton, 36, last started for the Panthers in Week 3 of the 2023 season while Young was out with an ankle injury. In that game, Dalton passed for 361 yards and two touchdowns.

I've watch QB Bryce Young play 10 games...I'm 5' 9', Bryce Young is 3 inches shorter than me and frail...The Panthers list Bryce Young at 5' 10" and 210 pounds<<He's not!..Bryce Young still has the high school body build....Dave Tepper (Carolina Owner) hasn't given Bryce Young any weapons (WR-TE) are protection (Offensive Lineman) for such a small young man...Carolina could have had BLACK QB CJ Stroud, Houston<<<That brother is balling...BLACK QB Anthony Richardson whose starting for Indianapolis.

A source close to Young said the quarterback is "open to anything'' as it pertains to staying with the Panthers through the end of his rookie contract or being traded to another team. Canales said on Wednesday that trading Young is "not something that we're considering.''

Bryce Young's NFL future: Trade value and options for Panthers
The most telling evidence that it was time for the Bryce Young era to and in Carolina is the immediate acceptance that followed. Nobody seemed to mind. There were no fans putting up signs supporting the embattled quarterback on the way to the facility, By the numbers, it's difficult to argue with the decision. Young isn't getting better.

I don't like BLACK QBs, but Ima make an exception for The Panthers Bryce Young...They benched Bryce Young for the veteran white QB Andy Dalton, who no other NFL team needed his services<<<Aint a damn thang change!, still losing!..Panthers owner David Tepper is the new Jerry Jones<<<Give a BLACK man a job and set him up for failure...Its obvious David Tepper is going to trade Bryce Young...A white QB is not going to work in North Carolina...I've been to enough Panthers games and know lots of Carolina Panthers players to know this...Since Cam Newton left the Panthers, Carolina has tried unsuccessfully tried making white QB (Sam Darnold, Minnesota and Baker Mayfield, Tampa Bay) relevant<<<Their relevant for their teams, but never in Carolina.

Panthers' Bryce Young to start after Dalton hurts thumb in crash​

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young hoped to get another chance to start this season, but not the way it has happened. Veteran Andy Dalton sprained the thumb on his right throwing hand Tuesday when he was in a multicar accident in which he was driving with his wife, three children and dog about seven miles from Bank of America Stadium. Coach Dave Canales called Young on Tuesday night to inform him he would be the starter Sunday at Denver and announced it publicly Wednesday after a practice in which the top pick of the 2023 draft took all the first-team reps while Dalton observed. Young was benched in favor of Dalton after an 0-2 start in which he threw three interceptions to no touchdowns. Dalton won his debut against the Las Vegas Raiders but lost his last four starts for the 1-6 Panthers. But the first-year NFL head coach said Young has been an "absolute stud'' the way he's handled being benched.

^^That's bullshit^^ Bryce Young was getting the start against Denver anyway...Panthers owner David Tepper made that decision Monday...The only reason why Bryce Young was benched after a 0 - 2 start was to keep the fans in the stands....Bryce Young is the future of Panthers football....I know this, because I have season tickets to The Panthers games.
