I wish I could say the same, but you know that any moment of sincerity (no matter how scant) would go against the grain, whether I truly felt it or not.

Therefore, I am duty bound to say FUCK OFF CUNTING ANGST-BOY, regardless of what I may think!

Yes! That's it! That IS your fault. Now that you realize it you can minimize the emotional damage in the future. When someone is/becomes unavailable in any capacity, strike them off the list and move on to fresher game where rejection is not a certainty.
 
There are things your brain knows, but your emotions don't.

It must be nice for those who can let the needs of their mind or body override emotions.

I've always envied them.
