Predictions on the Democrat Congress

The last time the Democrats ran all of congress, which was from 1992 to 1994, we got higher taxes, failed national health care, and Don't Ask Don't Tell for the military. Big whoop.

The Republican congress got Clinton to sign: true welfare reform, balanced budgets, NAFTA, and GATT. (and under Bush, bloated social spending for education, farmers, and disaster "relief", but I digress.)

I wonder if the Democrats will do anything about the deficit they've been complaining about. My best guess is that the Democrat congress will:

Predictions on the Democrat Congress

1) Pass pay increases for their Union buddies (which is what the minimum wage debate is really about, for those who are educated on the matter)

2) Unionize Homeland security, thereby gaining huge contributions from Union paying members at the Ports, airports, and all other aspects of homeland security.

3) Run investigations of Halliburton and other military rebuilding contracts, when these same Democrats had no problem with these same companies when selected by the Clinton administration to handle Bosnia.

4) Ensure that no monitoring of Islamic terrorists takes place, otherwise known as the "Al Queda Bill of Rights".

5) Balance the budget by cutting the military and spending more on social programs.

6) Debate and then not enact the Kyoto global warming protocols, since everyone who has the slightest education on the subject knows the Senate voted 98-0 against Kyoto when Bill Clinton was president.

7) Raise taxes on Wal-Mart and similar corporations, who will then pass down every cent to the poorest of Americans. Same effect as raising the minimum wage. (Remember those $2-3 combo meals at the fast food places? Wonder why they're $6-7 now? You shouldn't.)

Bottom line, I don't see anything about the Democrat agenda that will ensure their hold on power in 2008. America will once again want a fresh direction, and it won't be Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Ted Kennedy, and Hillary Clinton.

Actually, if the Dems don't screw this up, they're going to be around a long, long time.

If they screw up, they deserve what they get.

The middle class is losing its patience.

Well if they raise taxes that screws up my Canadian gold mine investing strategy in the future but then there is stem cell money to be made in STM and ASTM.
