R.I.P. the VCR

Big Dick McGee

If you don't know, now ya know
I just got an email from TiVo, with the following message:

An era is ending, but a new one is here!

Embrace the future with $150 off and 3 months of TiVo® service FREE*!
Did you know...?

• Many manufacturers have halted production on VCRs forever!
• 2006 will be the last year for VHS movie releases.

This week in New York City, we'll bid a final farewell to video recording hassles forever as we lay the beloved VCR to rest. And for our beloved subscribers, TiVo® and Best Buy are making sure you can join us in spirit with the world's first, best, and easiest-to-use DVR.

Bring your friends and let TiVo change their lives!

If you don't have a DVD player or a DVR yet, you're screwed. A VCR will only be good for recording television. How long before they stop making blank VHS tapes??

I have a DVR and 3 VCRs. The VCR still comes in plenty handy. Plus it will take half my life to transfer stuff on VHS to DVD that didn't get reissued, and by then DVDs will be obsolete...

IT'S A RACKET JUST LIKE PCs I TELL YA!!!
