Raiders Coach Jon Gruden Resigns After Homophobic and Misogynistic Emails

Gruden's resignation was a striking departure from the football league for a coach who had won a Super Bowl, been a marquee analyst on ESPN and returned to the N.F.L. in 2018 to lead the resurgent Raiders, which he had coached years before. Gruden's departure came after a New York Times report that N.F.L. officials, as part of a separate workplace misconduct investigation that did not directly involve him, found that Gruden had casually and frequently unleashed misogynistic and homophobic language over several years to denigrate people around the game and to mock some of the league’s momentous changes. Gruden denounced the emergence of women as referees, the drafting of a gay player and the tolerance of players protesting during the playing of the national anthem, according to emails reviewed by The Times. In numerous emails during a seven-year period ending in early 2018, Gruden criticized Goodell and the league for trying to reduce concussions and said that Eric Reid, a player who had demonstrated during the playing of the national anthem, should be fired. In several instances, Gruden used a homophobic slur to refer to Goodell and offensive language to describe some N.F.L. owners, coaches and journalists who cover the league. Gruden also criticized President Barack Obama during his re-election campaign in 2012, as well as then-Vice President Joseph R. Biden, whom Gruden called a “nervous clueless pussy.” He used similar words to describe Goodell and DeMaurice Smith, the executive director of the N.F.L. Players Association.

Report: NFL finds no other current team, personnel implicated in Washington Football Team email investigation

The NFL has found no other current team or league personnel to have sent emails containing racist, anti-gay or misogynistic language similar to messages written by Jon Gruden that led to his resignation as Las Vegas Raiders coach, a person familiar with the documents told The Associated Press on Friday. The person said the league "did not identify other areas and other individuals it has to contact at club leadership or league leadership levels." The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the league has not publicly released what is in the 650,000 emails the independent investigators collected during an investigation of sexual harassment and other workplace conditions at the Washington Football Team. The timeline of when the NFL was made aware of the content of the emails also has come into question. Such knowledge came toward the end of the investigation of the Washington franchise, with the investigating firm viewing the emails as beyond the scope of their probe. When the league became aware of some emails potentially of concern, it began to review those. That led to the Gruden emails.

I will agree with Gruden on women being referees. I will also add that women should not coach men on any male sports, from middle schooi to the professional level. Women should not be sideiine reporters. Women should stay in their lane. As far as drafting gay players....as long as he can run a forty-yard-dash in under 4 seconds and can bench press 400 ib, its all good... Black people have the right to protest your national anthem.

Problematic Jon Gruden emails may be 'more common' than thought, congressman says

One of the House Democrats who sent a letter to the NFL seeking more information about its investigation into the Washington Football Team's workplace culture says he fears Jon Gruden's emails are the "tip of the iceberg." Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi, D-Ill., told ESPN that the representatives wanted to get involved because the NFL "holds a special place in American life." "The way they handle issues of race and gender and the way they treat their employees really influences the way society handles those very issues," Krishnamoorthi said. "We're very much interested in learning more about exactly why the NFL did what they did and the way they did it." Gruden resigned as Las Vegas Raiders coach earlier this month following reports that emails he wrote over a multiyear period included racist, misogynistic and anti-gay language. The emails were discovered as part of the investigation into Washington's workplace culture. "The biggest fear is that what Jon Gruden appears to engage in is much more common than what we otherwise thought," Krishnamoorthi said. "That's what a lot of people are concerned about."

Tafur: Raiders owner Mark Davis questions the NFL’s timing on Jon Gruden’s emails, attempts to explain his

“We’re Raiders, we’re used to this.” For the most part, Mark Davis did a pretty good job of not playing the victim card on Wednesday when he finally spoke about the timeline leading up to coach Jon Gruden’s resignation as Raiders head coach two weeks ago. And the Raiders owner is also to be commended for being the first NFL owner to say the league should release a written report on the investigation into the Washington Football Team’s workplace misconduct that led to the Gruden email leaks. But Davis, with that line above, made sure to convey that the Raiders were done an injustice by the way the league handled Gruden’s racist, homophobic and misogynistic emails.

Raiders reach undisclosed contract settlement with Jon Gruden just weeks after coach's resignation over emails

When Jon Gruden originally signed on to coach the Raiders back in 2018, the long-time NFL coach signed a monstrous 10-year deal that was scheduled to pay him nearly $100 million. After his resignation on Oct. 11, one of the key things that had to be figured out between Gruden and the Raiders was how much money he was going to walk away with. Apparently, the two sides have finally hammered out a deal. At the NFL owners meetings in New York on Wednesday, Raiders owner Mark Davis confirmed that he has reached a settlement with the team's former coach, according to the Athletic. Although the details of the settlement aren't known, the team still owed Gruden nearly $40 million in guaranteed money at the time of his resignation. Due to the way his tenure ended with the Raiders, there's a good chance Gruden didn't walk away with the full $40 million, but you can also probably assume that he didn't walk away empty-handed. The former Raiders coach resigned from his job after multiple emails leak earlier this month that showed him using misogynistic, homophobic and racist language during conversations with former Washington Football Team president Bruce Allen.

Here's how anyone with any self respect should handle accusations of, "...racist, homophobic, and misogynistic..."
Beer Ok GIF by Busch

What's the difference? All white peope/crakers are either a racist or bigots. Why you white-skinned/european's think y'all still run this world is a mystery too me. I always knew Gruden was a hater of African-Americans. It wouldn't surprise me if Jerry Jones was exposed. Bottom line is Gruden is a bigot or a straight up racist. Jon gone get his $40 million in guaranteed money at the time of his resignation.
