Sandman: Overture

First issue is out! It was good! The art was really great! I wonder if anyone else who was excited about it will post in this thread!

It's now delayed until March 26th. And who knows if it will even be out then.

Neil Gaiman has jumped the shark, sorry.

First comic I've read in years. Lots of secrets revealed, like how Morpheus came to be captured etc. I got the McKean cover (since I actually had a choice) Nice foldout panorama inside too. Beautiful production all around.

Plus that shocker on page 5!

Pretty cool story, I'm not surprised the motherfucker can't do deadlines now that he's writing prose instead of scripting pamphlets.

I remembered this existed and thought I'd missed issue 3, but it turns out it's been delayed until July 30th. So that'll be three issues in NINE MONTHS.

More like Neil GRRM-MAN?

So issue 3 finally came out.

It was great! Everything about it was awesome. For all my complaining about how delayed this has been, Gaiman's still on top form. And the art. The fucking art. It's amazing, amazing art. I'll definitely buy the full collection when it's finished.

WILL MENTY SEE THIS THREAD BEFORE ISSUE 4 COMES OUT?

Nope! Read issue 4 today. That's four issues in fourteen months, by the way. It was good. The stuff with Dream's "dad" was a bit weird though?

Issue 5 finally came out. It was good. That's my review. I'll bump this thread again in a year when issue 6 comes out, even though no one will ever read it. Bye.

I kind of gave up on comics around the mid 1990s--for various reasons. At the time I had the complete "Sandman" and essentially the complete "Grendel" (I didn't have some of the early Grendel back-up stories). One of the reasons I stopped collecting was that I was underwhelmed by "Dream Country" and "Grendel Tales." Now it turns out there are new Grendels and Sandmans. Meh. As much as I love Gaiman (and Matt Wagner), I don't know if I need to see Hunter Rose time travel to the 1930s to battle The Shadow.
