Santorum: Porn Buster

cakewalk

along for the ride
Rick Santorum.

This man sees abortion as a sin, even in cases of rape and incest. He votes in favor of legislation and later contends in nationally televised debates that he didn't really agree with the measures, he just voted in favor anyway. He is on record as saying that education in America is failing because "Satan has attacked academia, first and foremost" and America is under attack by the devil himself.

And now, he's the only GOP candidate whose political website addresses pornography as a major social issues, requiring more regulation and enforcement. For child pornography, no argument here. Everything else, let it be, in my opinion.

Latest words of wisdom from the devil slayer himself:

"Current federal 'obscenity' laws prohibit distribution of hardcore (obscene) pornography on the Internet, on cable/satellite TV, on hotel/motel TV, in retail shops and through the mail or by common carrier," it reads. "Rick Santorum believes that federal obscenity laws should be vigorously enforced. If elected President, I will appoint an Attorney General who will do so."

I love google search on his name.

I've followed this guy since some of his most ignorant public statements on women's issues four years ago. When he threw his hat in the ring for the 2012 race, I thought for sure that all of his devil talk and archaic gender views would cause him to drop out early. I was so wrong; he's gained momentum and is giving Romney a run for his money.

I watched the Arizona debate the week before Super Tuesday and was surprised by how convincing and impressive he was for most of the "show". Had I not already known of him and were it not for Ron Paul bringing up his old voting record every time Santorum contended to be against something Obama supported (but had himself voted for earlier, ie Obama care, Fed bail outs, etc...), I think I might have given Santorum a second look. Not proud of that, but there it is. Important to know what these guys are really all about, beyond today's google searches.

It bothers me when someone with a fighting chance to be the leader of this country focuses so much attention on what I and other consenting adults do to pleasure our bodies. Much bigger fish to fry, in my opinion.

Off the soap box!

Jack, I'm trying to think of something less interesting then rigged (all) American politics...

Give me another minute.

Ok got it. Well sort of.

As interesting-

Women's issues.
:smfsmiley:
No one expects you to read or care about any of it Gear. Doesn't mean others can't.

It's not a women's issue, by the way. But, I won't explain it to you since you've made your apathy abundantly clear. I can respect that.

I think one of my favorite things about Cakesock is how 'she' always tries to speak for everyone when confronting me.

Hey I have an idea! Why don't you guys derail another thread with a pissing match?

Oh, you're already on it? Great!

Sorry Eggs, I don't want to derail the thread. Just thought this recent "porn focus" from Santorum was interesting. Kind of a niche for him, maybe? No other candidate is going there. Possibly his way of appealing to the very far right.

I don't consider it a women's issue. Personally, I could care less about porn, but it doesn't mean that others shouldn't enjoy it (if it's consensual and doesn't involve children). I don't think it's a matter demanding a platform from a presidential candidate considering the other major social, fiscal, and international issues on the forefront. Just one' gal's opinion, respecting all others.

You win, Gear.

I started a thread about a political issue/candidate in the political forum. You commented that it's not interesting. I agreed with your right to feel that way. You've posted more than once regarding your apathy about politics, so safe to say nobody would expect you to care about this subject matter and no reason for me to attempt to convince you what it's all about. I can respect your political apathy (I am apathetic about a lot of things).

My reply to you was genuine.

I wasn't talking about you -- it's your thread. ;) I meant the boys.

Disney and HBO are two of the biggest purveyors of pornographic films into the private sector. It would be interesting to see how much money they are giving his campaign.

I don't follow the contribution money trail; it's so convoluted with big biz establishing smaller outfits to make donations with less visibility. I would guess the major players in entertainment tend to support the Democratic party, which is typically more generous when it comes to funding for the arts, but I could be totally off-base.

Rick Santorum is a fucking dumb-ass and a loser. The people of his home state voted his ass out.

He's also scary, and fitting neatly into the mold the republicans want.

You don't think Bush was a one-time thing for them, do you? They won't give it up if they get it back this time.
