SAVED BY THE BELL LYRICS DISCUSSION THREAD

CaptainWacky

I want to smell dark matter
When I wake up in the morning
And the 'larm gives out a warning
I don't think I'll ever make it on time
By the time I grab my books
And I give myself a look
I'm at the corner just in time to see the bus fly by
It's alright 'cause I'm saved by the bell

If the teacher pops a test
I know I'm in a mess
And my dog ate all my homework last nite
Riding low in my chair
She won't know that I'm there
If I can hand it in tomorrow, it'll be all right
It's alright 'cause I'm saved by the bell
It's alright 'cause I'm saved by the bell

It's alright 'cause I'm saved by the
It's alright 'cause I'm saved by the
It's alright 'cause I'm saved by the bell

Would "riding low in your chair" really work? Surely the teacher would then think you were absent and you'd get in even more trouble? Just how "low" is he in this chair?

Slouching down in your seat so the teacher doesn't call on you, maybe?

If she was looking for homework (which we're supposed to believe his dog ate *SNORT*) then surely she'd have like a list of all the students and she'd go round them all and if he was so low in his chair that she couldn't see him she'd say "where's Zach? Is he riding low in his chair again?" AND HOW MANY YEARS DID IT TAKE ME TO UNDERSTAND THE "'LARM GIVES OUT A WARNING" LINE.

Would it not be more likely that the teacher would either have people come up and hand in the home work or pass it up front?

It would later be discovered he did not do his home work.

ALSO I don't recall Zack having a dog? Are there roving gangs of dogs that go around and try to eat people's homework?

Good point. I suspect Screech ate his homework then said "zoinks!" and pulled a "who me?" face in an attempt to pass it off as a joke.

A close friend of mine from college landed a role on a show that debuted the same time as SBTB, right after it on Saturday mornings, called The Guys Next Door. It was about a fictional boy band (but they actually sang and danced so they could release records and make money on the side that way).

It lasted one season, while SBTB became an empire.

If only he'd been Screech you could say "I'm the man who made Screech Screech!" even though you weren't.
