The horror. LOL

Sites such as Kotaku, Joystiq and Digital Battle have questioned whether the ads are racist.

( :wah!:)

I love this part:

it's questionable, however, whether the world is ready to explore themes of race and domination in the context of a videogame console ad.

Why not? Nothing else seems to be questionable in the video game industry lately.

But race is taboo. Slavery, Sarek. Everything else on the face of this earth pales in comparison to the 100 million Africans who died in the slave trade. The answer is slavery.

It goes beyond that. The white chick is blond. She also wears gloves. Blacks would be offended so they wouldn't want a sony. Ergo, sony becomes elite and a higher price tag.

That's assuming of course that blacks actually bought it in the first place.

They say the 5 finger discount is a victimless crime. ;)

What's funny is that I'm mildly outraged by this ad, but not because of the race thing (though I can see where people would get that way & I'd support that).

But what I find horrific is the way corporations will literally stoop to any level if they think it'll elevate their bottom line. Absolutely no moral compass at all... Sickening.

The ad only has whatever value or 'meaning' society assigns to it.

I'm more fascinated by the reaction than the action.

Sony trolls good.

What the hell? Some black dude (or chick, 'cause let's be honest, sometimes you just can't tell) is gettin' fondle-ized by a naughty Nordic nurse. This is a problem why?

Oh yeah, I forgot -- because some folks out there just can't live without a problem.

The controversy surrounds the disdain of white for black. Black is depicted as weak and soft. Perhaps true in comparison with the newer model product, but the distaste and its degree extends beyond the intended message of the advertisment. Ergo a flawed ad. The abstract visual overshines the product.

That's only the reason people thought they objected.

The real reason is, they hate the white bitch's fucking mullet -- and rightly so.

As opposed to everyday adverts depicting the opposite?

Or popular culture in general, in other words?

You don't get it, Kefka -- whites aren't allowed to have sensibilities along those lines, only observe those of other groups.
