The Question

WASHINGTON (SBG) - Facebook had more than 20 million child sexual abuse images on its platform in 2020, according to a report by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

“You don’t want to talk to your kids about sexual exploitation, you don’t want to talk to the kids about sex or pornography,” said Rezsaun Lewis, a father of five. But Lewis says he has already talked to his kids about pornography, fearing exploitative images of children may pop up on their feeds.

“To be sexually abused and then for it to be put on camera and for millions of strangers to watch it for enjoyment, that’s sick,” said Lewis.

In 2020, 1,400 companies reported over 21 million incidents related to child pornography. Google had over 546,00 incidents; TikTok over 22,000.

I can see why that would be a problem for Google -- they crawl just about everything online and have a huge "Images" category of the results. That's populated basically via automation. But the shit on Facebook is uploaded to Facebook by users. People put that shit on there on purpose.

And, y'know, it's weird -- I was just relating to Jack how I got a 30 day ban for "bullying" a totally fictitious person. Most likely that was done by a bot; yet, somehow, Facebook doesn't have a bot looking out for + deleting these images and handing out bans for those who upload them?

Tells you where Facebook's priorities are. And that, for those priorities being where they are, Facebook needs to crash and fucking burn.

Yeah, for sure. That's why I keep my wall locked down and my FB friends list locked also. You have to get a friend request to see anything but the public posts :bigass:

The shift on that platform the last 4 years has been horrific, to say the least.

Finally looks like they're starting to pay for it, too.

Facebook is considered the most dominant social media platform, with about 2.8 billion monthly active users globally. However, over the past few years, after mass privacy invasions and censorship practices, it has been losing its dominance in a few important demographics and all social media users in general.

Research conducted by Edison Research revealed some unsurprising facts regarding Facebook. First, Facebook is no longer the preferred social media platform for people between the ages of 12 and 34 (millennials and gen Z). Losing people in this demographic is bad news for Facebook as this is the demographic preferred by most advertisers. Only 21% of people aged 12 to 34 said their preferred social media platform is Facebook.

Even Facebook has to answer to the market. Google, too; DuckDuckGo is a better product with better ethics.

That's a good link, thanks. I love DuckDuckgo. What I use with TOR.

In the meantime, I pick 30 random posts to report while I'm waiting for the ban to drop. They have to respond to each and every one, since these are actual complaints and not bot auto triggers. :bigass:

Only 30?

See, this is how Fucking Absurd Facebook is getting:

That fact check, as you can see, has nothing to do with the post it's attached to. It's just Facebook going full retard with the nanny bullshit.

I haven't bothered to check how long my one account has left; that's why I have multiple accounts. Facebook can block one, or three, or six; doesn't fucking matter. Those fucking shitheels want to betray free speech, they have NO reason to expect honesty from their users.

I just have the main. It's odd though. FB Pay works just fine, and I can share materials and stuff in my games plus Messenger works fine so I still talk to anyone I want to and respond accordingly.

Just can't post, share, or like on my or anyone else's wall.
