Sorry. It felt appropriate.

Right, so I followed some link in one of the OMGZ TEH DRAMA threads, and was surprised to see how many WFs were here. No wonder it's been getting slow and boring.

I'm too lazy to read what's actually going on, because I don't really care, I just want a place that distracts me, but I was wondering;

Who has moved over here, and are you going to stay posting regularly here?

Right now, TK is about three times as entertaining as WF. At least. But WF might catch up fast with the lurker/Cass/Baba clusterfuck that's about to happen.

Threads which bore me:

The American Surburbian's commute
OUR RIGHTS BEING TAKEN OMG
Confederacy
Drama relating to teh baba
Any drama relating to anyone I dont know in real life
Political correctness
Gun control / Abortion / Gay rights / Libertarianism (unless someone has a new opinion to add)
Pictures of girls with eating disorders, fake boobs, and minimal clothes

I may add to this list as I think of more...

Are there any other topics?

On Wordforge, or generally? For the former... not really, no.

For the latter, all it takes is some creative thought, and non-knee jerk reactions to posted stories or media, and something interesting could happen!

I have SO much work to do, I need somewhere interesting to avoid it!

Yeah, I have a 50 page paper to write and applications to send. Which is why I'm hanging out here. :ramen:

I'm apparently writing a dissertation. I've done the sketchy prose for about 10% of it.

But I don't wanna do it :'(

It's due on the 13th. But I need to do it sooner so I can revise for my Ibsen exam on the 12th.

It's all really interesting to me, I've just developed a strong urge not to write it up, especially as it's so short, it's really difficult. Pretty much every line has to be gold...

January?
Mine's supposed to be about 480h of work (no one does more than, dunno, 200h though - it's the final thesis for your bachelor's degree) and it's due either 10th February (I think) or in May.

How long is your's supposed to be? 10 pages?

Really REALLY short.

It's 5,000 words. Tiny.

Thats why it's due 13th jan. It's only worth on module, we're supposed to put in 200 hrs work I think, can't remember. We have two other modules, one chosen (mine is Ibsen), one is Romantics -> Victorians, and I think the expected writing in the exam is about 5,000 words each. Next term it's all 5,000 words essays, so the assessment for the year comes to 30,000, which adds up to most peoples work. A friend of mine in Oxford chose to do three 10,000 dissertations in her final year, so I can see how they work this stuff out.

It's frustrating though because this year is 60%, I have unreported extenuating circumstances for last years high 2:2 / low 2:1 (I literally have forgotten what I got.), and I really know my shit for this work. It's been SO hard skimming stuff down, and my topic has so much potential, so I'm already at a bibliography of 25 books and 5 journal articles. But... I'm just not writing. Don't know why.

Oh, and the reason it's so short is because an English degree is essentially a degree in how to translate large volumes of work in small periods of time, and bullshit when you haven't done it. So this dissertation means that those people who have got by through waffle will not do well. Like I said, I know that every word needs to be gold...

I weep for thee.

I need about 40 sources or so - got ten books now and a couple of articles. Not that I really looked at any of them but at least I have them. I'll see where it goes from here. Probably a few days at the library digging through shit at some point and I'm guessing I won't be getting around doing interviews either. Not liking any of it but at least I can probably do the old 20/80 rule again. Then I'll use my awesome German skills and make those 80 look more like 95 and get an awesome grade. Love it. :D

Btw, do you post on WF? If you do, what's your username there?

If not, ignore that.

What are you doing your dissertation on?

To apply for Officer Candidate School for the USMC you have to write, like, a 100 word essay. You really want to understand Twain's "I apologize for the length of this letter. I didn't have time to write a short one.", try explaining in 100 words why you should be put in charge of 36 teenagers with rifles.

"Posting" is probably a bit of a stretch - still read stuff, used to post quite a bit and now just occasionally: Pylades. The dissertation is on Private-Banking-y stuff. ;) Not really interesting unless you're into it (which, fortunately, I somewhat am).

Yep, at some point it gets really short. Had to write a 300 word essay on my extracurricular activities for one of my applications. That gets frustrating real fast.

I thought you were Pylades! I have spammed your blueroom thread before.

And generally, if you can make it sound interesting, I shall be interested.

Volpone; I doff my imaginary cap to you sir.
