Squishing a cat

Well, littlest kitty kitty - the 5-1/2 year old cat that is tiny, tiny, weighs about 4 pounds - pulled a night stand down on top of herself early Thursday morning. Nothing is broken but she has a spinal injury now and the vet found ulcers on her tongue. She tested negative for FIV but she apparently has some other cat virus so he put her on antibiotics for that and on steroids for the spinal injury. She is having problems urinating on her own though. Had to take her in to the vet again yesterday to be "expressed" and the vet showed me how to do it. Squishing a cat is not as easy as you'd think. The bladder moves around and she isn't exactly in the most cooperative mood.

This is my main interest these days - making the cat pee.

Well, thank god, after all that squishing and not being able to get the desired results the kitty kitty was able to go on her own. She has improved immensly over the last few days. When it first happened I thought we were going to have to put her down. Her back end was completely squashed. She was dragging her back legs straight out behind her. Friday she was able to eat again and she was able to get her back end up some even though she couldn't get her back legs under her. Saturday she was able to stand on one leg even though she was still wobbly and the other leg was dragging. She is to be on the steroids for 3 weeks and then the vet will look at her again and see if she is improving well enough or if we'll have to look into other options like surgery or putting her in a cart. At the rate she is improving I'm hoping we won't have to go either route. She is able to get around very well now and her appetite is good.

I'm getting worn down between the animals' problems and the kid's illness. When things settle down again I'm taking a vacation. Think I'll spend two weeks on my island. Maybe MM can loan me a couple of tried and true cabana men who are able to fan me with palm fronds and fetch me iced tea while I sit on the beach with my legs in the water. That is all I need, really, and I'll be just fine.

Hugs to you darlin! My cat is doing much better, I hope for a speedy recovery for yours!
And of course-that sentence sounded way funny in my head just now! LOL
