I watched the first episode, I enjoyed it. I liked that the Sith lady wore high heels. I watched with subtitles for the more authentic experience (but I guess I'd watch the English dub if someone told me it's good for specific episodes?)
Don't really know how to answer that as I liked the first episode (really good lightsaber fight) and you didn't. The strength of it is that every episode is done in a different style and tells a completely different story. It's nice and imaginative. I've only watched the first five though.
Episode 2 - The animation style was not really my taste. I did like that it featured the podrace arena and the absurdity of Jabba and Boba getting down to the music.
Episode 3 - I mean, I appreciate that it had a giant lightsaber flown on an x-wing cutting through a star destroyer, but I didn't connect at all with the characters or story. I feel like maybe something was lost in the translation.
Episode 4 - I liked it, real good world-building in a short runtime. And battle droids speaking Japanese.
Episode 5 - Definitely my favourite of the five I've watched, felt like a complete mini movie. Would watch a whole series like this, really! Old Droid is my new favourite Star Wars character.
Episode 7 - I found it pretty damn dull, with most of it just two characters talking in front of static backgrounds. A lightsaber fight eventually, but others had better ones.
Episode 8 - I liked it but it felt incomplete. Ended really abruptly.
Episode 9 - I was pretty burned out on Jedi/Sith stuff by this point. If they do a season two I hope all the studios talk to each other and agree that not every story needs a Jedi/Sith conflict. Good sad ending though.
Also watched LEGO Star Wars: Terrifying Tales which is a different thing! 45 minutes is probably too long for a LEGO Star Wars episode, but it was cute enough. It had Watto, Maul and Grievous (tickling Maul!) so I have to appreciate that. It was interesting that the Knights of Ren story could just about fit in canon? Don't watch if you don't think LEGO Star Wars should last 45 minutes.
Sith - It was cool. It looked like a painting (obviously), the fight was good and I liked the little droid with the gun.
Screecher's Reach - Very cool, loved the twist that the "ghost" was a crazy Sith apprentice and the kid ended up replacing her.
In The Stars - I don't remember much about this one at all. It was probably fine?
I Am Your Mother - Sweet and fun. Wish it had been longer so we could have seen more Star Wars aliens done Aardman style, but I guess they call them "shorts" for a reason.
Journey To The Dark Head - One of those episodes that feels like you're joining the story part way through - but the original Star Wars movie was like that so it was probably on purpose. I still don't really get what the big heads were and the Jedi was a bit whiney but it looked good.
The Spy Dancer - Very good.
The Bandits of Golak - Indian Star Wars. It was okay.
The Pit - Kind of weird. I liked it fine but maybe lacking in memorable characters? Showed how evil the Empire is and sometimes it's good to be reminded. The "she has force powers!" ending felt tacked on.
Aau's Song - Lightest on story but very cute animation. Ending is similar to The Bandits of Golak with a forece sensitive kid leaving their protector to be a Jedi so that kind of hurts it.
I enjoyed the season; it felt like there was a bit more variety to the stories told (possibly because it featured animation studios from all over the world and not just Japan.) I'd still like them to do more stories that don't feature the Jedi/Sith/Force powers at all, but I guess if you ask an animation studio to do a Star Wars story the first thing they're going to think is "LIGHTSABERS!"
