Stuck At Home

It is 14 degrees outside and the roads are covered in ice. I'm staying at home and not going out. Brrrrrrr.... wish I had a big fireplace.

Schools are closed.
Airports are closed.

And, it is Super Bowl Activities Week. Oh my. We're losing tons of money thanks to all this ice and snow.

We are southern Texans. Most of us do not drive in snow or ice very often. We don't have snow tires and ice chains and such.

The cats are calling me: "Come back to bed. It is warm and toasty here. We can dream of sunbeams and butterflies while we snuggle under the covers."

They are wise cats.

I just got home. They announced at 1:30 we could leave work at 2. Everyone left at 1:31. Took me an hour to get home. The snow is coming down horizontally now. They said 20" here when its done. Ive got my camera ready. :)

We're about to get a foot and a half here, but this is western NY so we could give a shit. a foot of snow isn't even enough to close schools sometimes. I did find out they're closing day programs tomorrow at work, so I guess they're taking it seriously for potential hazards...I freaking hate when they close program, I get stuck babysitting all the extra staff they send over to "help" from regular programs, and the day just draaaaaaaaaaaaaaags.

Im looking out my window right now and I cant see across the street. 3" of snow coming down an hour and 50 mph winds. This is so fucking cool to watch from inside! :)

We braved the elements and went out earlier hoping to find an open Starbucks. The closest one wasn't open so we stopped at KFC/LJS for mashed potatoes and barbecue snackers then went over half a block to McD's for their crappy frappe. Surprisingly, the main roads are still pretty much covered in ice. Considering where I live this is unbelievable. There are literally hundreds of Super Bowl Activities taking place in my immediate vicinity. How can that be? For months everything has been all about the Super Bowl. Commercials on TV about how we should all be nice and be good to "our" guests coming for the Super Bowl. Code Enforcement harassing us to make sure we rake our leaves and hedge our bushes so our homes will look nice for "our" guests. Rolling black outs to conserve energy during this hard freeze but the Stadium is lit up like a birthday cake because it needs the power for security. So, why are the freaking roads covered in ice?
