I thought I would post about the problems I've been having at TrekBBS, and with T'bonz in particular in hopes that someone here has had similar issues that they can share. I'll refrain from using any colorful language (for now).
I've been a member of TBBS for at least the past five years. I've never caused any abuse or problems. In fact, if you have ever heard of a poster with the screen name "AboveAll", you get a free cookie!
Last month I decided to change my screen name as a homage to my favorite band, Trembling Blue Stars. I wasn't are that I had to contact T'bonz to do this, so I simply created a new account with the intentions of deleting the old account.
Problems started when I came to the defense of another poster in the Moderator Actions forum. I told one of the moderators there that he should "grow a thicker skin" because I felt he had given an unfair warning.
T'bonz came into the thread and posting something along the lines of "I hate when newbies come in and get invovled with board politics", accused me of "attacking" the moderator in question, and basically told me that I'm on her shit list. I apologized, but asked T'bonz to cut out the "newbie" insults and threats.
The next day, I logged in only to find out that my account was locked. I emailed T'bonz asking her what was going on, and recieved a single sentence response of "dual account. Both were locked". According to board rules, if a user is discovered with two accounts, the newer one is locked. Not both. However, I'm assuming that since I had put myself on T'bonz's shit list by defending another poster, the rules no longer applied to me.
I politely responded twice asking her what the status of my account is, and have recieved no reply as of yet.
Now, I'm sure the trials and tribulations of being a board administrator are plenty. hhowever, I'd like to think that a site as supposedly as progressive and fair as the TBBS wouldn't have an admin that would resort to this sort of nonsense simply becasue a poster dared disagree with her.
However, I'm not sure what I can do about it. I emailed Christian hoping a fair resolution could be reached, but I'm not holding my breath. I feel like I'm talking to President Bush in his little bubble.
