Tell me why?

Enkephalen

My Stars!
Okay, I've noticed in the last couple of months that when I watch certain shows on t.v., or movies on the Dish, that they come to a halt, jerk forward and then continue again.

I had the most irritating time watching CSI one night when the damned stop and go action happened throughout the entire hour long show.

Now, I'm noticing it on movies on the Dish network. Not with all movies, but with enough of them that it is very irritating.

I have also noticed that when I rent DVDs the same thing happens.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening? Has anyone else experienced this?

The only thing I can think of that might account for it happening on DVDs and on live tv is something not part of either of those alone. Do you have a DVR or something like that?

Ask the dish company to re-align your dish. it might be off a little.

That or there are things (trees, bushes) blocking it,
OR.. the day was cloudy.

I have a dish, so.. Yeah.

In response to Q - no I don't have a DVR.

In response to Blindgroping - no trees or foliage or buildings blocking the dish.

I have cable t.v. AND I have dish. I have them both because where I live the dish can't get any local channels, let alone Los Angeles news channels without cable. So this happens on both cable and on dish.

Very irritating. But it does provide some comfort to know that others experience this too and that I am not imagining this happening.

DVD's often do this towards the middle of the movie or at certain chapters on the disc. I have noticed that when i make a DVD+R copy that the halt or jerky movement is no longer there...perhaps it has something to do with the encoded copy protection on the disc?
