Los Angeles Lakers heavy favorites to win NBA Finals, but Miami Heat drawing early action

Sportsbooks have installed the Los Angeles Lakers as considerable favorites to beat the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. The early betting action, though, has been on the underdogs, and the odds are on the move. The Lakers are -400 favorites at William Hill U.S. sportsbooks, with the Heat listed as +320 underdogs. Early support for Miami has caused the odds to move at some sportsbooks. As of Monday morning, 17 of the first 18 bets on the NBA Finals were on the Heat at the SuperBook at Westgate Las Vegas. The Lakers' odds have gone from -450 to -360 at the SuperBook since the price was posted late Monday night after the matchup was set.

LeBron: No extra meaning facing Heat in Finals
Like a parent being asked to rank their favorite children, Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James wanted no part in assigning special value to a 2020 NBA championship, should he win it against his former team, the Miami Heat.

Heat's Butler: We're not underdogs in Finals
The Heat have certainly embraced the lack of expectations placed upon them all season long -- and have thrived. Miami entered the season with 75-to-1 odds to win the title, easily the lowest of any Finals team of the past 30 years.

Heat's Bam Adebayo, Dragic ruled out vs. Lakers

Miami Heat All-Star forward Bam Adebayo and guard Goran Dragic have been officially ruled out of Game2 of the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night. Adebayo is struggling with pain and a lack of mobility surrounding his left shoulder and neck, but there remains hope he could return for Game 3 on Sunday, sources told ESPN. Dragic suffered a plantar tear of the left foot in Game 1. He has been able to put some pressure on the foot, sources said, but the injury is painful and hampers mobility.

Anthony Davis scored 34 points, James had 25 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists and the Los Angeles Lakers rolled past the Miami Heat. Jimmy Butler fought through a twisted left ankle to score 23 points for Miami. Kendrick Nunn scored 18 points for the Heat, Tyler Herro had 14 and Joe Crowder 12.

NBA Finals: No rookie is more confident than the Miami Heat's Tyler Herro

Herro is the first rookie to start in the Finals since Courtney Lee in 2009 and the youngest player to start a Finals game in league history. And according to ESPN Stats & Information data, Herro is on pace to average the most points (16) and minutes (36.7) per game as a rookie in the Finals since Magic Johnson in 1980. None of this fazes him. LeBron James says respect of Lakers' fan base must be earned with success

Butler's big night helps Heat cut Lakers' Finals lead to 2-1
Butler finished with 40 points, 11 rebounds and 13 assists and the Heat beat the Los Angeles Lakers 115-104. Miami's starters outscored the Lakers' starting five 89-51. James had 25 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Kyle Kuzma and Markieff Morris each had 19 points off the bench. Anthony Davis managed 15 for the Lakers.

Game 4
Lakers top Heat 102-96, take 3-1 lead in NBA Finals
James finished with 28 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, Davis finished with 22 points, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 15 for the Lakers, who didn't trail at any point in the final 20-plus minutes. Jimmy Butler scored 22 points for Miami, which got 21 from Tyler Herro, 17 from Duncan Robinson and 15 from Bam Adebayo who returned after missing two games with a neck injury.

Game 5
Heat force Game 6, top Lakers 111-108 to stave off elimination
Butler had 35 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists. Duncan Robinson had 26 points for Miami, which used seven players. Kendrick Nunn had 14 points, Bam Adebayo 13, Tyler Herro 12 and Jae Crowder 11. The seventh player, Andre Iguodala, didn't score. LeBron James had 40 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists for the Lakers. Anthony Davis scored 28 points and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 16.

Davis probable, Dragic doubful for Game 6
Davis acknowledged on Friday after the Lakers' Game 5 loss to the Heat that he originally suffered the injury during the Western Conference finals against the Denver Nuggets. Dragic originally suffered the injury at the end of the first half of Game 1.

Butler drained after win: 'Left it all out on the floor'
The wear on Butler's body was on display when he walked into his postgame news conference. He sat down slowly, grimacing slightly, clutching his left quadriceps and sighing.
