So you still got it, SB? I gotta admit, it's decent looking from that angle. But IMO GM really dropped the ball in just slapping a GTO badge onto a Holden Monaro. I guess if you need a "sleeper" car, the GTOs are the way to go--especially if you get the one that first came out, without the hood scoops.
Anyhow, I'm reading through the owner's manual (more on that in another thread) and, while some of it is
very tedious--stuff like how to use the key to unlock the doors--"Insert the key into the door lock. Turn 1/4 turn clockwise. Remove key. Pull on door handle. Open door."--there is some very cool stuff there.
First off, the fucker has all kinds of bling/pimp features. You can turn on trim lighting around the cupholders and in the foot area--and set it to one of about a half dozen colors. And you can also pick the color of the gauges on the dash. This is actually useful because somehow I kept forgetting to turn on the headlights (the lights come on when you unlock the car until you turn the ignition, the light switch is hidden by the steering wheel, the gauges are lit whether the lights are on or not, and I live in town, so there are plenty of streetlights). Now if the headlights are off, the gauges are lit in white. If the lights are on the gauges are green.
There are also some sort of Knight Rider/nanny features. There's an onboard computer that, when you push a button, tells you how many gallons of gas you have, how many miles you can go on it, your average gas mileage, average speed, etc. When you get low on gas, it starts nagging you every 5 miles--"50 miles to empty. 45 miles to empty..." When it gets to the single digits the fuel gauge lights up in red.
But the reason I'm typing right now--apart from because the reading is boring as shit and I needed a break--is because I'm reading a bit about the theft deterrent features and I got to a part talking about "the system is armed."
I really like living in an era where you can drive a car that has systems that are armed. Sort of like Michael Keaton's Batmobile.
