Ok. Most every night, I hear these debates on CNN and FOX News that are "debating" whether The Golden Compass movie is "pushing the athiest agenda".

First- Are you people morons?
Second- Isn't a movie, just a movie, part of our capitalist free will and speech?
third- Don't movies about the bible push christian agenda?

Now, I don't watch movies bassed on the Bible or christian agenda because i don't like the propoganda and brainwashing and disregaurd for facts.
If these people are afraid of their children watching this movie because it'll give them ideas, ....

Well, you can see where I'm going.

I read the book when I was younger, and if the movie follows the book, then I have no idea what they're talking about.

It doesn't advocate the absence of a god, but it doesn't exactly support the idea of one. But it's a fantasy story. What do they expect?
 
I just want to see Nicole Kidman naked a few more times before her looks and body go completely to shit.
 
I'm with BG here. Who cares! It looks like a good movie, I'll probably suggest that my brother take my niece and nephew to go see it.

I like what Tom Hanks said when there was all the controversy surrounding...Oh gosh the title escapes me but it's about how Jesus had a daughter...Anyway, Tom Hanks said, "It's a movie, it's entertainment. It's not fact, we're not even pretending it's fact."

What happened to going to movies for an escape?
 
Movie looks like shit either way.

From the previews it kind of reminds me of Chronicals of Narnia, which sucked balls. Kids are too busy masturbating and listening to rap to save the world, people should stop making movies about them saving the world and movies about them masturbating.

Which brings me to my next point, people should stop making books. I mean, who reads books these days? 21st century for server's sake.

I hope, my kind sir, for your discretion that somebody, preferably whatever the hell english professor you study under, takes a book, preferably a thesaurus , and shoves it so far up your ass, good gentleman, that you cough in Synonyms .
 
Philip Pullman has never made a secret of not being a Christian, any more than Douglas Adams did. Was there also an uproar about Adams' athiesm? I can't recall if so.

But to cast him [Pullman]as some kind of anti-christian writer bent on warping the minds of little kiddies away from christianity is lame; his audience was always inteneded to be young adults, not children.

In fact, IMHO, His Dark Materials would be a very hard slog for most kiddies to understand in any event, given the layers of symbolism and erudite references. They might glean the message that using religion to oppress is a bad thing, but mostly they'll just enjoy a fantasy adventure.

I am wondering how much of the subtlies of the books will be translatable on-screen....

Well, it's kind of like this.

Red propositioned the board about a business deal or made some sob story about a financial hardship back when he was admin and, I believe, still partial owner of TK. He asked the members to contribute funds to help him out and promised to pay the money back when things got better. Some people, being completely retarded, actually sent him funds. And he promptly disappeared with the money.
