The Grammys are a BIG POLITICAL PIECE OF SHIT!!

Laker_Girl

Mrs. Big Dick McGee
No longer a measure of true musical talent it's just another political stomping ground for the left. Less the miraculous win by Carrie Underwood's Jesus Take the Wheel of course...I song I hate with my whole heart mind you.

There is absolutely no other explanation for the Porker (Ps. Natalie, drop a few hundred lbs before stuffing yourself into priates' booty again. The sighted thank you in advance.) and her Dixie Whore's big wins and John Mayer too!! I like John Mayer, don't get me wrong but "Continuum" better than "Futuresex/ Lovesounds"??? HEEEELLLLL NAW! I have both CDs and which one do you think bumps in L_G's system? Here's a hint, I'm not waiting on the world to change.

And PUH-LEEEEEZE with Stevie Wonder and Tony Bennett winning best pop duo! I love Stevie, he's the man, he can make music until the day he drops and I'll love it but I'd like to strangle and bury whoever decided Tony Bennett had talent...And those who continue to believe he does. Enough with the sentimental favortism, let's award some real, modern talent, those fogies had their day, IT'S OVER! Nelly Fertado was robbed.

I'm disgusted. I hate awards shows, I don't even know why I bothered to watch the little bit that I did. Needless to say I will not witness Martin Scorcese get robbed of an Academy Award AGAIN while overly political crap like "The Last King of Scotland", "Babel", and "Blood Diamond" take home Oscar after Oscar.

Disgusted I tell you.

Take a breath, darlin'. Your surprise at these results surprises me. ;)

The Grammys were never about actual achievement, they always vote awards to the most buzzworthy names, or to the name that old fogeys recognize on the ballot. Just look up the list of Best New Artist recipients, you'll find they're either not as worthy as their fellow nominees, or are long gone from the business. For example, 1978: Elvis Costello and The Cars lost for Best New Artist. The winner? The creators of the then-#1 disco hit "Boogie Oogie Oogie", A Taste of Honey.

And it's hard to claim it's strictly about politics when the Chicks also won awards in the Country categories, where they would be most likely to be ignored. Plus most Grammy academy voters are too old to have a clue what's going on anyway.

That's because I don't watch award shows, this is exactly why.

Perhaps you're correct, maybe there was just a more talented pool of singers back in the day and the Grammys have just devolved into popularity contest, much like the Academy Awards. It's still an annoying shame.

Oh please, country music is just about to tip the fence to the left as we speak. Any uniqly American genre that would allow an Austrailian to achieve success within it is about to jump political ship. I hate country music, always have, always will so I don't care but still, bad example.

Thanks for responding though, love you, as always. :bigass:

Ru...It was one song, Sting annoyed me in his soulful, repetative fashion but otherwise it was great. I'm not clear why the Grammys spent so much effort touting the "reunion" or even doing the "reunion", it's not like they were awarded anything and it really was just the one song. A total waste of advertising and viewer time.

Hank Williams Jr, one of the most popular country artists in the late 70s and 80s, is and was horribly partisan and filled with all manner of shrill leftist rhetoric.

Yeah, the Police reunion might as well have been phoned in. They played "Roxanne" on autopilot, except for a formless little jazzy riff in the middle to keep Sting happy, and that was it. I was expecting a second song at least, and they just waved and left the stage. I looked at the clock and it was 8:03. I knew I'd be flipping to other things all evening.

I was at a strip club. I happened to notice it was on when one of the girlies left the stage. They switched it over to the bulls/suns game after a few minutes. I didn't care either way.

I watched my "Lord of the Rings, Extended Edition" DVDs and read a book on the 1919 Paris Peace conference till I fell asleep.

I never watch those awards shows, they are all fixed.

Last King of Scotland is Political? Historical maybe

I hate it when people don't know where I'm going with my rant and say things like this.

And CKLT, I was talking about the Academy Awards by the time I made my statement, keep up lovey. ;)
