Splitting the big awards is stupid, but it happens often. Only directors vote on Best Director, but any yahoo with an Academy membership can vote for Best Picture.

Crash was one of the most well written movies to appear in ages. It deserved the little golden guy.
 
Personally, I could give a shit about pretty much any movie from last year.

I'm glad Brokeback Mountain didn't win because I don't want any more "touching stories of love than cannot be" to get made again, EVER!
