I just finished watching season one of The Shield. Holy shit, now I know what everyone was talking about! This show is fucking great! Michael Chiklis plays Det. Vic Mackey perfectly. Half of the time you're appalled at the way he operates, the other half you agree that he's SuperCop.

There's a scene in episode 13, where Vic is chasing someone who witnessed a cop killing. The shot is Vic's POV, as the kid vaults the fence. The camera switches to an overhead shot as Vic, who is one step behind the kid, growls and crashes through the wooden fence! It's a "re-wind" moment for sure!

I'm currently *ahem* acquiring season 2, I hope to be able to watch up through at least season 3 before season 5 starts in January.

FX kicks ass. Anyone else a fan of The Shield?
 
I've only heard good things.

Maybe it's time to put this in our Netflix queue.

yes I'm a fan - seen the first two seasons.

Really awesome - It goes for the story arc rather than episodic format, unlike almost every other cop show

and yeah, vic mackey is legendary- morally ambigous a bit like Tony soprano he's both the hero and the villian. CCH pounder is fantastic too

where are you *ahem* aquiring them from? I'm itching to see S3...

I've been trying to download some shows from the site menty recommended, but I'm having trouble. something to do with a connection error - I don't really understand enough about it.

Which bittorrent client are you using? I use G3, as recommended by The Question. It's never steered me wrong.

You are using Peer Guardian, yes???
 
I downloaded azureus and peer gaurdian like menty recommended

then went to torrentreactor.com, but seem unable to download any stuff

- I'll have to work my way through all the faqs and maybe find out what's wrong - i'm knew to all this...
 
^^I was new until TQ & Menty steered me right. I'll do a search for the thread where they gave me advise, you can try the torrent client I use.
 
Its a great show, Buttons is a fan too.

Vic is still watered down from the pilot though, hes never killed a cop in cold blood again.
 
Yeah, that was pretty fucking shocking. I mean, you could see that Vic was hoping that Two-Time was gonna kill Terry. When that didn't happen, the look on Vic's face immediately after firing the gun was, "What the fuck did I just do??"

I understand why they backed off a little bit, though. It's one thing to have a protagonist who takes the law into his own hands, and kills a couple of bangers or drug dealers. It's quite another to have the "hero" of the piece go around killing innocent people.

My favorite episode so far was Dutch capturing the serial killer. Fucking classic.
 
I picked up season 3 at a car boot sale, it was a copy, but a perfect copy, with special featuers, commentaries, everything, not bad for 5 quid.
 
I just picked up Season 1 before Christmas and just this minute finished watching the first episode. Great stuff, looks like this could be worth investing some time into.

As for setting up a Bittorent client and having everything run smoothly -- if you have no real expirience can be a bugger. Connection errors happen for a multitude of reasons. Usually because the client doesn't have the right access to port 6881. Another common problem is that you are using a third party firewall (which you should be) and the default windows firewall is still active. This can mess things up.

I am more than happy to walk people through the process if they are having trouble.

They should have a FAQ on the Azureus website as well.
 
I just finished *acquiring Season 3, I'm now *acquiring* season 4. I finished season 2 yesterday. Holy cow, that ending was chilling!!

*SPOILER ALERT FOR MENTY!!*
































The end scene, where they're looking over the loot from the money train was incredible. Vic comes in all happy, but then he looks at his team members and sees they all realize something: They've crossed a line they can never go back on. Even more so than killing Terry, this seems to seal the deal for Vic & Co. They're now bad cops through and through, and they all realize it.

I'm gonna start season three on Friday, no spoilers please! It will be cool to see how Vic reacts to CCH Pounder's character as Captain.

WHAT A SHOW.

I MUST AQUIRE EPISODES. QUICKLY.
 
Yes. The Shield does rock. It's one of the best shows on TV, better than probably 24, as it doesn't have the Kim angle.
