The "That Neighbor" thread...

Zombie Hunter
...apparently it was lost. Ah well. Taking the week off and doing little chores around the house. "That Neighbor" is out in the front yard, banging on something. I'm both curious and afraid to look and see what he's up to.

But the real reason for another post is because someone bought the last vacant house on the block and they're fixing it up. That means that, in the 7 years since I bought my place, every house on the block has been remodeled--or is being remodeled--except one: The one directly across from me. That one hasn't even been painted and the most extensive remodel has been adding a fresh tarp to the roof.

Ah well...I don't dislike the guy (or his wife). But it would be nice to get someone in who would put some money into the place (or at least tidy it up a bit).

Today he's...making...a mailbox? Out of cinder blocks. He's got about a 4' stack of cinder blocks out in front of his house that he's doing...something to.

Today his pickup is in the front yard. And I don't mean "pulled over onto the grass next to the driveway to make room for another car." I mean 90 degrees to the driveway, parallel to the road, behind the fence, across the walkway to the front door taking up the entire front yard in the front yard.

And yeah, it is a mailbox. Six blocks high. I don't quite know how tall that is but the actual mailbox is above my chest. And it is the cinder blocks with the...ends? wings?...to them--instead of being square on the ends there are little flanges that meet up with the next block. He methodically chiseled them off. Not neatly, because you can clearly see they were there, but damn, it must have taken him half a day to do it.

Jesus wept.

You should launch dead cats onto the tarp/roof. I would say live cats, but you'll have a hell of a time getting them into the sling.
