I don't know if we start threads on Steven Moffat shows anymore.



I know it was a book (and adapted into a movie) but it's also the River Song/Doctor relationship, really! Moffat has a very specific story he likes to retell..

Rose Leslie is nice I'll probably watch it.

We are psyched! 6 episodes. What fun. One of our favorite books and Rose Leslie! YAY!!!
 
I watched the first episode. It was...okay. It felt very familiar in places, which I guess shows how much Moffat "borrowed" from the original book over the years. I do enjoy complicated time travel situations. But it didn't grab me like real PRESTIGE TV does. And the whole thing where the main guy, as an adult, meets the woman he'll marry when she's a child and she grows up sexually obsessed with him is still a bit icky.

But yeah I'll keep wathcing it.
 
I loved it. So far just one episode? Going to come out weekly?

It felt like a movie.
 
Well last nights episode was excellent. Almost makes me want to read the book, something I never do.

I like the part where the virgin 18 year old version of the wife intersects with the 41 year old who "groomed" her as a child for the sole purpose of "being her first"

I have no idea how the book went, but I'm loving how this tale is getting spun.
 
Earlier in the thread you said it was "one of our favourite books"!

I've watched the first three, the third was the best because it was from Clare's point of view. As I understand it the book is supposed to be a metaphor for a toxic relationship so the first two episodes being from the guy's point of view didn't really get that across.
 
The season finale worked pretty well as an endind (they got married.)

Too bad they couldn't travel into the future and take the necessary actions required to avoid cancellation!!!!!!
