The un-fucked with Star Wars OT

Big Dick McGee

If you don't know, now ya know
Is it out on DVD yet? I can't keep up with these things, but I want to get it if it's out already. I would just check amazon, but who the fuck knows what to order??

do you mean the pre-1997 (special edition) versions, or the pre-inserting-Hayden-Christensen-fucked-up versions?

I'm confused too. I want to get the 1997 SEs because the quality and sound has been cleaned up, and I'm not bothered by the minor additions they added back then, but I don't want the new new editions, or the original originals....:-?

and there seem to be about 3 or 4 different boxed sets floating around

The 1977/1981/1983 versions will be released on DVD later this year, as "extras" on a re-release of the 2004 fucked-with versions.

The original versions will simply be a port of the 1993 laserdisc versions, and will likely NOT be anamorphically enhanced for the 16X9 crowd and will only have Dolby 2.0 (which is what was on the 1993 LD release).

Lucas is an asshole.

The 1997 re-releases--sans the godawful Hayden Christensen--are not slated for DVD release.

^^Fuck. You know, I really want my son to see SW the way his old man saw it, before Lucas fucked with it. I guess it's still better than VHS.

Memories...

A friend of mine (sigh) had clips of Star Wars (NO freakin' Episode IV crap) on 8 mm film...this was before VCRs...1979, I think.

Holding a 4th Anniversary Party for same movie...

Attending a PBS sponsored showing of the (only) trilogy, in March of 1985, in NYC. Across the street was an X-Rated movie theater. They were showing "Romancing the Bone". Heh...

Of course, there's the oft-mentioned 10th Anniversary Convention in Los Angeles in 1987. I was locked out of my hotel room for wanting to watch Star Trek on TV (I'm actually a Trekker at heart).

Going back to see the films again and again at the General Cinema theaters, sipping their special brand of lemonade that I loved so much.

My friends and I incessantly peppering our conversations with the appropriate Star Wars quotes...

Engaging in some heavy petting with a friend (heavy, heavy sigh) in the movie theater, mostly because Harrison Ford was pushing my, um, buttons... ;)

All good, warm memories. :)

I'll probably get it when it is released, even though it's not getting the star treatment it deserves.:(

Why they had to include the "2004 fucked-with versions" again so soon is beyond me...perhaps to charge a bit extra??

Before Lucas fucked with it? He made it. Before he fucked with it there was nothing.

Because those are the "definitive" versions. Lucas is only "begrudgingly" releasing the "Original" OT for collectors.
