It's so bad, it's good. She may be a hypocrite after declaring "Who cares about being a fat bitch?" and then almost immediately becoming a skinny bitch, but I find her music catchy.
 
it's also a deeply cynical production designed to be a tiktok hit rather than a good song

Link me to a tumblr post explaining the homophobia, please. (I could probably worked it out but I don't want to listen to it again to try to make out the lyrics.)

I fucking hate this thing where fans want to call celebrities "mom" or whatever. I remember Hayley Atwell deleting her social media because she got backlash after answering "no, it's weird" to people asking if they could call her mum/mom/mother.

"mother" is gay slang that means something like "bad bitch". "meryl streep was serving cunt in the devil wears prada" can become "meryl streep was mother".

in this song, trainor is taking that gay slang and misusing it to mean something like "i am an authority figure" instead of what it actually means. it's like what taylor did in "You Need to Calm Down" where she sings "shade never made anybody less gay" - that doesn't make sense as a clause!! If you're going to use queer slang, have the decency to get it right.
 
Okay, I didn't know any of that; I think with the Hayley Atwell thing they specifically wanted to call her "Mom" and it didn't really feel a gay thing but I don't know! In my female celebrity research I've seen guys call celebrities "MOMMY" ("MOMMY TAYLOR" is one I've seen a lot) who I'm pretty sure aren't gay as they're in the "FAP TO TAYLOR'S LEGS" sub reddit or whatever.

("How do you know about the 'FAP TO TAYLOR'S LEGS' sub, Wacky?" Look, things come up in searches sometimes.)
