Birth certificates only states one race not halves. It may state the race of the parents.

If you're dad is black and you're mom is white. You’re birth certificates doesn't state that you're half-black or half-white ( note: there's no such thing as half-white).

No they don't. "Other" means whatever race not printed on form. There is such a thang called "the minor race".

Then if this is the case-why do people say they are 1/2 German 1/2 English or whatever? What about being 1/2 chineese?
It is the same concept to me. I mean if you have one parent who is of one nationality and the other is of another nationality it is half. Then it starts breaking down-and people say they are three quarters this, and 1/4 that or whatever. Yes if one of your parents is African American and the other is not your skin will be darker in color-so I guess you could say you are "black" but you still have another nationality and another heritage in which to identify yourself.
I cannot wait for the day that Race and Color are removed from forms-such as applications for jobs and college. It really should not be an issue or a question on any of those things. I can only see its purpose in doing a census-but even those will never be accurate.
So what really is your issue with this?
