I want to smell dark matter
The Squidinator had been lying in Chloe's bed for a long time. He'd finally gotten comfortable. He could almost forget about his human body again and live in his mind as he had before. Almost. He didn't know what to do. It would come to him eventually, woulnd't it? He was the Squidinator, after all.
Chloe would come in from time to time. She brought him sandwiches once. He couldn't even think about eating. It had been so long he didn't know how his body would react. And yet he did feel hungry, he thought. Was that hunger? Was that what hunger felt like? One day he'd have to accept the sandwiches. She tried talking to him but he couldn't think of what to say.
Was he depressed? He'd been trapped under ground for so long. He'd gone willingly. Yet when Chloe had come he'd been happy for a moment, thinking it was meant to be. Thinking the world would be his again.
And now he was lying on a teenage girl's bed and couldn't think of how to get up.
He did start reading the book of Lisa, after Chloe printed a copy of it out for him. Then he tossed it across the room in a rage. The Lisa he had known wasn't in there. Only a mindwashed minion of the Squidinator.
He should have stayed in his hole.
He tried to talk to the squidgod after that.
"Please reply. Please. PLEASE."
"This is me replying."
"Is it? How do I know you're the Squidgod and not just a memory of the Squidgod? A character I've created in my head. Constructed from memories. What if everything I was is fading? What if I'm...becoming human again?"
"You rejected me for so long. Yet now you fear you have no power."
"Yeah. That's some kind of irony I guess."
"Why not let me take over..."
"Because I don't think there's enough of you left to take over."
"You're right. I'm just an echo. I can barely remember what I once was..."
"I'm so used to only talking to you that I can't face ever speaking to another human. Not even Chloe. I can she's disappointed in me, you know. She looks at me with pity...and annoyance. She thought I'd be a God. That I'd kill people for her or whatever dark thoughts she entertained. Now she sees I'm just a pathetic man with a sqid face lying in a bed."
"Anyone would be disappointed in that."
"Fuck. Imagine if she wrote a bible like Lisa did. How shit it would be. How shit I am. Any Squidinator fans would be finished with me. They wouldn't want to read about this."
"Kill yourself then."
"I'm not really thinking that."
"Aren't you?"
"Aren't I?"
"Which...which one am I?"
"Hello? Are you...are you gone? Squidgod?"
"It's just you on here. Just me."
He pounded the bed in frustration. Chloe came in, looking concerned.
"I need to feel something," he said, sitting up at least.
"I'll...I'll help you," she said, sitting down next to him. She started stroking one of his tentacles.
"I'm not mind controlling you," he said. "Even if I tried I probably couldn't now. You want this..."
"I do..." She started to clumsily remove his trousers. He felt himself getting hard.
Then he shot ink all over her from his tentacles. She jumped off the bed in anger.
"FUCK!" she said. "How am I going to explain this to my mum? It's all over the floor."
"I'm sorry, this has never happened to me before," he said.
"YOU SUCK. YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE A GOD. YOU CAN'T DO ANYTHING."
"I said I'm sorry..."
"Go back to your fucking hole in the ground you freak."
"Now look HERE," he said, standing up now. He grabber her right and shook her. "I AM THE SQUIDINATOR. I'M MEANT FOR GREATNESS. YOU FREED ME FOR A REASON. A PURPOSE. I WILL FIND IT. I WILL CHANGE THE WORLD."
She shoved him back down onto the bed. "You can't even overpower me," she said. "What can you possibly do to the world?"
He shot more ink at her now. He wanted to control her mind. One mind. He had to start somewhere. There was so much rage in him now. She had been right, he was small and pathetic...a monster. He'd be a monster. He didn't care if he killed her. She slipped in the ink. He jumped on top of her.
"I'll show you what I am," he said. She struggled in fear. He wan't going to rape her, he knew that. He'd never do that. She opened her mouth to scream for her mother...and he shot ink into her.
He stood up and looking at her, twitching on the ground, choking on his ink. Then she stood up too. Her eyes were dark now. She looked at him and smiled.
"Thank you, master," she said. He smiled too.
"Well," said the voice of the Squidgod inside of him. "It's a start."
