I want to smell dark matter
He watched the news on tv that thousands of his ink-eyed servants had been killed and felt nothing. He was completely removed now from human emotions. He could not remember what they felt like. He wondered if this was what humans meant by depression. He did not care. He had burned away all the human parts of his brain. He could remember being the squidgod more clearly than he could remember being human, even though that had been millions of years earlier. Humans really were nothing A failure of a species, doomed to die. And yet...sometimes when he looked at Chloe, he did feel...something. A warmth. It was pleasant. He looked at her a lot, when he wasn't looking at the death and destruction on tv. His ink-eyed servants were still advancing, all over the country. Cities tried to close down their entrances, but all it took was for one ink-eye to get inside and the conversion began. He would win. The world would be his.
"To think you were defeated by men," he said to the Squidgod in his head, mocking him.
"Sorcerer's with magic powers you could not dream of."
"Still."
"You know nothing of my history..."
"Tell me then."
"You can access it..."
"Only through talking to you. Which is strange. Why can't I remember anything of my human life but I can speak to you?"
"Maybe because I never had emotions. Maybe because you are closer to me now than you are to human."
"Yes, maybe. You said one of your kind went to space."
"The great whale. He left this sorry planet behind. He was the strongest of us all. The only one who could defeat the Time Demon."
"The Time Demon?"
"Another of my kind...an off-shot. He was small, pathetic...but he could manipulate the flow of time. If he was ever defeated he would just rewind tme and escape before the defeat even happened."
"Clever. So how did the whale defeat him?"
"The great whale. Show some respect. He created a time cage and trapped the Time Demon in it. He took him into space and planned to drop him into a black hole."
"You and the great whale were friends?"
"Hardly. We tried to kill each other for many ages. Species came and died in the period our war was fought. Yet in the end we reached stalemate and he went to the stars to conquer the galaxy."
"Then that's what we'll do. You failed to defeat the great whale before. Now I am an even better you. The stars will be mine. I will find and kill the great whale using the planet Earth itself as a vehicle of destruction."
"The great whale could be in another galaxy now..."
"I'll keep searching until I find it. I am immortal after all."
