I want to smell dark matter
The Time Demon popped in on out of Chloe's life with amusement every now and again. He never let her see him, of course. Her life followed a path similar to what he had imagined, but it was still fun to see the birth of a new immortal. He wondered what she'd become in the future. He decided not to travel beyond the time she finally visted the Squidinator in his cave. Leave it as a mystery for a few million years. He'd run into both of them again before the end. He'd tie up those loose ends. He always did. It would just take some time.

He rembered his citadel of pain deep under the ground. He'd left his army of time slaves there back before the Starwhale had taken him prisoner. He'd removed them from time so they were immortal, simliar to how Chloe was which was what had made him think of them. Their brains had been warped by paradoxes so that they could do nothing but obey his will. He smiled at the thought of them waiting for his return for hundreds of millions of years. He decided to pay them a visit.

The path to the citadel had turned to dust over the years, but he could remember the location. He simply time travelled to a time when the position of the citadel was in the place he was currently standing. A lot of people who thought about time travel never even considered that the Earth was constantly moving. To them it would seem like a disadvantage, but to the Time Demon it was an easy way to teleport.

He stood in his great hall now. It was dark so he could called for light. Torches lit up. His slaves were still there. Except...there were less of them. He felt disappointed.

"Hello, slave," he said.

"M...m...master," said the slave who had lit the torches. Tears were on its eyes. "We...we wait for...for you..."

"Oh, stop crying," said the Time Demon. He sliced the slave's head clean off with a sword he'd brought with him. The other slaves watched, in shock.

"Master, he was our leader..." said another. The Time Demon ran him through with his sword.

"I am your leader," he said.

"Yes, master," said another. "What our dead brother meant is that, in your abesence, Omega Slave served as our slave commander. For six hundred million years.

The Time Demon only cut this one's legs off.

"I enjoy killing," shrugged the The Demon. "You know that about me."

"Yes, Master," said the one with no legs.

"Don't call me Master," said the Time Demon. The Squid God had been called that in another universe, before it had become the Earth. "Call me God."

"Yes, God," said the one with no legs. The Time Demon killed him out of boredom.

"I should make a new army," he sighed. "I can't even remember what I used you for."

"The war with the Dark Dog," said one, proudly. "We bathed in its blood."

"Oh yes, that was a good bath," admitted the Time Demon. "But its been dead a long time. I guess I'll kill you all now. Why are there so few of you, by the way?"

"The army of Dark Dog...some still lived. They attacked us. Killed many. But we fought back. Those who remain..."

"SOME REMAIN?" boomed the Time Demon.

"Yes, God."

"Then I won't kill you yet. Not until YOU kill every last one of them."

"Yes, God."

And the war begun anew.
