I want to smell dark matter
"The Starwhale was a girl, huh," said Chloe, as if that that was the most imortant thing they'd learned. "I guess I never really thought about it."

"She's going to destroy the Earth, kill all the humans," snapped the Squidinator. Chloe shrugged.

"We're all going to die, remember? Maybe even me this time. I thought you always wanted to kill all the humans anyway, just like Time Demon just wants to die."

"No!" said the Squidinator. "I just don't CARE what happens to the humans. I want to make a better world, with or without them. I can't do that if the Starwhale's unholy brood destroys the Earth."

"And I don't want to die," said the Time Demon. "I want to rewrite all of the universe from the moment of creation so that there is nothing but me and there never was anything but me."

"Oh...okay," said Chloe. "When did you decide?"

"You talk to us as if you are our equal," said the Time Demon, with disdain. "I should not have brought you here. Be gone."

"She can stay," said the Squidinator.

"She just tried to stab you to death!" said the Time Demon.

"She was just letting off some steam, weren't you Chloe?" he said.

"No, I was trying to kill you," she lied. "And I don't need you speaking up for me. You don't get to decide if I'm allowed to stay. Why are you both wasting so much time on me anyway? Shouldn't you be trying to stop the Starwhale?"

"YOU CANNOT STOP ME," came the Starwhale's voice, again in their heads. Chloe realised that having a starbrood had amplified the Starwhale's powers. "YOU CANNOT STOP US."

"Well, you have our attention," said the Squidinator, considering his next move. "You haven't destroyed the Earth yet, as I assume you want something from us first."

"I must know," said the Starwhale, and it sounded insane now. "I must know what you took from me. What you changed. Which timeline is the correct one. I must know."

"I took so much from you," said the Time Demon, cruelly. "You lived millions more years after this. You and the Squidinator fought each other to death. That was how it was supposed to be. But I changed that."

"Tell me, " said the Starwhale, slowly. "How do you think I got this starbrood?"

"An interesting question," said the Squidinator, before the Time Demon could respond. "To have children you'd need another being of the same order as you. There are no more starwhales, we know that. Did you find another lifeform in space? Unlikely. You didn't in the other timeline. The only people who could impregnate you are me and the Time Demon..."

"Ha," laughed the Time Demon. "I'd remember...oh."

"Yes," said the Starwhale, and she showed the a vison in their heads. It was the Time Demon, the OTHER Time Demon, the one from the original timeline. The one in the box. It had been enslaved fully. It had been used as a sex slave by the Starwhale, used for its unholy sperm. It was in its box again, dead behind the eyes.

"You monster," said the Time Demon. "To do that to me..."

"You have twenty four hours to surrender the Earth to me," said the Starwhale. "I will take it as payment for crimes commited. And you will leave to the be exiled to the stars. A fitting punishment. If you do not...I will kill you and everyone on Earth." And she had her Starbrood whip the Earth with their tails and the Earth shook and millions died.

"What now?" asked Chloe, beginning to almost feel human again. Did she feel bad for humanity as it face its second end? She hadn't thought she had it in her.

"Now?" asked the Squidinator. "Now we find a way to kill her."
