I want to smell dark matter
"No!" said Chloe, as the Starwhale went silent. The Squidinator looked exhausted, but satisfied.
"I killed her," he said. "I really did it. Her brain is full of oil. She's dead. DEAD. HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
"You're a mosnter! I was getting through to her."
"Nonesene, she had to die. She travelled millions of light years to come here and destroy the Earth and us. Do you really think you could stop her?"
"Her starbrood are still alive! They're destroy Earth now." The Starbrood were flying around their dead mother, but they did not attack.
"See? They fear me. They will not kill me."
"But the Earth..."
"Fine, I'll tell them not to destroy the Earth." The Squidinator looked deep in thought for a moment. He was talking to the Starbrood telepathically, Chloe realised. The Starbrood, each of them, cried out in sorrow at the same time. Then they took flight and landed on the moon. "I gave the moon to live on. Happy?"
"No, I don't think I'll ever be happy again. I guess you got everything you wanted now. The Time Demon is erased from reality or trapped in a time bubble or something..."
"I'm not even sure myself. It's almost exciting. But he's gone, yes. I can't feel him anymore. If there's anything of him left, if he ever claws his way back into this reality...I'll just kill him again."
"And you've murdered the Starwhale..."
"Don't be so melodramatic."
"Me next?"
"Why would I kill you? You're no threat to me. And I still...like you."
"Oh please."
"Don't worry, I have given no thought to making love to you again. I am so beyond that now. Soon I'll be beyond this body too. I'll exist everywhere, in all of the universe, at all time. That's the real power of the Source. I have seen it. Now I simply must return."
"And how will you do that now that you've killed the Time Demon? I thought you were going to use him to return."
The Squidinator was silent for a long moment. Chloe smiled cruelly. She had him. "Aww, didn't think of that, did you?"
"I don't need the Time Demon or anyone. I...I don't need you either. Maybe killing you will open another gate to the Source. You shouldn't exist, after all. Especially not now that the Time Demon is gone."
"Go on, try," said Chloe, holding her arms out wide. "TRY."
The Squidinator shot ink out of every pour but none of it touched Chloe. It instead spread all around the Starwhale's body, killing the human civilisation that live there.
"Why?" she asked.
"They were a loose end. And I enjoyed it. And...I felt their minds. Ha. I felt it. So simple. There is another way to the Source. And we're standing on top of it."
"I killed her," he said. "I really did it. Her brain is full of oil. She's dead. DEAD. HAHAHAHAHAHA!"
