Forever Empress E
Got up and went in to work. Did some things I needed to do and prepared for a couple of meetings. At one of the meetings I asked a question everyone thought I should ask at another time, even though they agreed the question needed to be asked. I was kind of embarrassed but, oh well.
Took off early for a 1/2 vacation day. Met with the pool ladies for our monthly lunch. This time we met at TGIF's. I had shrimp and salmon with cole slaw. Good food and good company. All these women are older than me - a few are in their 60s but most are in their 70s and 80s. They look marvelous. It is because they have been long time swimmers too. Keeps me going.
Then I went to the movies. Saw "The Expendables." I think they made that movie for someone else. I had to watch most of it in chick vision.
After that I stopped at the store. The checkout line was really long but I wasn't in a huge hurry so I waited patiently. While I was standing there with everyone else, another checkstand opened up. A young woman nearest to it when it opened asked me if I'd like to check out before her. I said, "yes," and "thank you." I only had one item and my cash payment was in hand. She had a partially filled cart. I know it isn't much but someone did something nice for me, unexpectedly, and they didn't have to, and they did it for free.
Afterwards I had a light lunch at the soup and salad place near home. I finished reading a book I've been trying to finish for a couple of weeks now. Then, one of the waitresses is my friend and she took her lunch and we visited a bit.
When I left the soup and salad place I stopped by Subway and picked up a turkey sandwich for my going-vegetarian daughter. She sent me a text message asking me to get her one so I have proof I am not trying to thwart her plans to go vegetarian. Anyway, it is in the fridge ready for her when she gets home after work late this evening.
Now, I'm at home. The cats and dogs are fed. There are a few more chores to do - take out the trash, finish some laundry, etc.
Overall, today was a very good day.
