LOL, guys I am so stupid. I thought it was an adaptation of the Vertigo comic Hellblazer.

Silly me.

^^It's not? I thought it was, too. I heard it sucked major ass.

Or are you being sarcastic, insinuating that while it purports to be an adaptation, it fails to actually be one, owing to its massive suckitude?

Bingo!

Really, it was terrible. No Rachel nudity and the WORST adaptation ever. I can sort of imagine if I had not been a fan of the comic that I might MIGHT have let it pass as a fogettable popcorn flick with a few interesting bits but as a fan of John Constantine and Hellblazer I was left with my mouth open probably not looking out of place on one of those buses for special people.

I could write a five page essay on how Holloywood seems to DEMAND that it ruins everything for the sake of its own take on a story but I won't bother.

I will make it short instead:

Why bother taking a story then changing almost everything? Seriously, the best way I can explain this is if you went to see Spiderman and instead he was black wore green overalls and shot webs out the top of his head. People have slammed Keanu's acting abilty a million times and I won't get into that, it really wasn't his fault. He is NOT john Constantine. NOT AT ALL.

Of course Constantine is English in the comic, here they have made him American because.. well, I really don't know why. Constantine has blonde hair.. In this his hair is black.. olive green coat.. in this its black... Oh, I could go on forever. They changed his backstory they.. JUST FUCKED IT UP!!!!!

This really is so far away from the source material that its astounding, why bother?

I want to go strangle somebody.

^^Well, there's your answer, then. They were trying to capitalize on the success of The Matrix.

It's a rare day when something original comes out of Hollywood, and when it does, every major studio has made a copycat film within a few months.

It was pathetically lame even as a stand alone. I didn't realise they'd bastardized it from something else as well.

*tries to think of at least one thing positive to say:*

Bloody awful.

I haven't seen this yet, but think NEO (what's-his-face) is one of the worst actors in Hollywood. The only thing I am interested in seeing him in is the 3rd chapter in the 'Bill and Ted' series. That's it. He and Winona Ryder stumble through their movies (and lives) with that same "what am I doing here?" expression on their faces.

Be that as it may, I know people who have not read the comics who saw the movie and enjoyed it on it's own merits.

Considering that, and what I've read here, I'm sure I'll rent it someday, but I don't expect it to be anything worthwhile.
