What is Twitter, really?

I think it's just another way to let people know what you are doing at all times.

Twitter is a social networking and micro-blogging service that allows its users to send and read other users' updates (otherwise known as tweets), which are text-based posts of up to 140 characters in length.

I will have it fully integrated into the Facebook/Myspace profile page soon...

TK is not TK without tweets.

Newest annoying fucking fad that all celebrities keep going on about on tv in order to appear "cool" and "with it".

I'm sitting in a chair typing. Now I'm drinking soda, back to typing again. I just farted.

I'm sitting here looking at this website.

A few days back I looked at Stephen Fry's Twitter page, since he'd been saying how wonderful it was. There were a few posts he'd made (along with an accompanying photo) while stuck in a lift in London's Centrepoint.

When I go to Facebook, and I see friends who have updated their status 10-15 times in one day, I feel nothing but shame and pity for them as human beings.

See, that is a GOOD use for Twitter. His posts were classic.

Things like that, and airplanes about to crash, and drug deals gone wrong, and Oscar nominees who just lost...that's what Twitter is good for. But nobody cares what happens the other 23 hours and 55 minutes of your day. I mean, seriously. Nobody.

I guess Twitter, like blogs, is something really for people with SOMETHING INTERESTING to say.

Which is about 1% of the people who use Twitter and Blogs.

Yet another thing to ignore!

So local news magazine show here uses twitter so people can comment on the show while its happening and so forth.

a buddy of mine put Twitter to me this way:

"well, if you read my twitter account, you already know all of the little events that have happened during my day, so the next time we see each other you can ask how something went, or skip all of the 'catching up' small talk and really have some conversation"

so i guess i can see what he's getting at there, but like everyone else has mentioned, those tweets have to be relatively interesting. often times, however, they are not. as we've discussed.

Ishcabittle is ready to bail from this post.
