Last few days it's been slow as death.

Speedwise, not traffic wise. Sometimes the lag is 30 sec or more between refreshes.

I've been getting the occasional "failure to load" message as well.

I just checked server load and it's high. We're getting an unusual amount of visitor hits at the moment.
