Wordfilters which have outlived their usefulness

Other words in the filter which make no sense by themselves.

rеdtubе - really? I mean, let's just filter xvideos, spankwire, pornotube, jizztube while we're at it!
bluеjеans - I really don't understand this one.
tіnyurl - I can understand, kinda....
50mеgs - wut?

I also agree that tubgіrl and goatsе have outlived their filter.

Also, just because they're visible here doesn't mean they're un-filtered.
 
It would be great if the list of filtered words were re-examined. Srsly, there's no reason for some of these things to be in there.
 
Give me a good reason why the wordfilter should be reset? g-se and t-girl are shock images, against the rules (along with lemon party and others).gns has scripts, the others have scripts. And while we're at it, why should some last names be protected and not others?

tbgirl and those ones don matter because things like tinypic and imageshack scramble image names alot of the time(or people could just scramble before uploading, duh)

censoring the names just means you cant DISCUSS them.

the fact that if i accidentally leave out the space in "blue jeans" leads to mmmmmmmmmm is really bad.

it's your choice though, doesn't mean much to me :D
 
There are tons of other ways to post pics of goatsе and tubgіrl. I've proven that point once before. There are also other shock images out there which I find to be more offensive than those two. The Pain Series is one example. We've moved into a day and age where the likes of goatsе and tubgіrl are mild and amusing in comparison.

Also, the shock/script sites should stay blocked. Lеmonparty and zoу should also remain filtered. Along with the gay nigger association stuff. Those are potentially harmful and are understandably bad. That's why I understand the blocking of tinуurl.

As for last names, if someone wants them blocked, they should PM a staffer and ask. I'd be happy to block any person's last name, should they ask me. It helps to keep down on the PI trolling. Nothing has stopped anyone else from entering certain people's names into the filter, btw.

Also, if you hadn't noticed, I'm bypassing the filters all over the place in this thread. It's not difficult to find the loophole. Truth be told, if someone wants to post things badly enough, they'll find a way. As a result, admins will just have to keep jumping through hoops to prevent it. I say concentrate on the important things: personal info and actively malicious sites.

With the advent of broadband, the hubble pics are really of no threat any more.

Not necessary IMO, but thanks for the tip. Meatspin was a site, not a pic. Yes, I know there's probably an animated .gif somewhere, but the same rule that applies to goatsе, et al applies to meatspin.

I don't understand. You mean we should filter a name like "John Smith" instead of filtering just "smith"? Unfortunately it doesn't work that way. There are no commas between the filtered words. That's why filtering a certain poster's name would be... impractical. Whereas, uncommon last names are a lot easier to filter.
 
ooooh i see. in smf forums you could filter the phrase "cow beads' rather than Cow and Beads being filtered. because smith and say, something that someone wants to be filtered, are common names, you can't filter that without causing problems :P
