Buy now at the 41 cent price, use them forever, no matter what the future price.

Youd think this was a good deal, except the stamp price hike is .667 of whatever the inflation rate was through the period of the price hike.

You're better off paying full price on the increase, which is actually cheaper when adjusted for inflation.

Funny how this took place just a couple of months after Bush signed that law into effect on forever stamps.

Another way to fleece the public, it would appear.

The cost of stamps is directly related to labor contract negotiations.
Lettercarriers with benfits, wages, and overtime are making six figures.
The sad part is the Postal Service no longer holds service above self promotion, meaning management's sole focus is on achieving the spread sheet numbers it takes to get a bonus payoff. This often leads to fraudulent data bases, pressuring employees with unrealistic productivity expectations and or punitive actions until they go postal or become WORTHLESS AND ARE MOVED INTO THE RANKS OF SUPERVISION. The upside is the Postal service will die as soon as the paper letter/mail matter does. 85% or more of all Postal revenue goes directly into the pockets of employees.

Wrong. the inflation rate of stamps is officially .667 of the national inflation rate (became law in '04)

Stamps are now being tied to the bbl future price of oil, so they'll be going up another .02 in about 4 more weeks.

If the Post Office was run like a Fortune 500 business...you would have free mail service. They waste that much money...

They've been private for some time. This forever thing is a real moneymaker.

From what I hear from mail carriers, they're paid well. But their benefits are crap.

Since 1971 the USPS has not received any funding from the department of treasury, period.

It's privately held.
