X-Men: Apocalypse

Why do they keep using that bad looking shot of Quicksilver running.

Finally the real plot emerges.

I saw it, it was a bit meh.

Actors and actresses hired on their ability to look pretty rather than any acting skills, so many new mutants introduced then given nothing to do, another Summer brother killed off camera, farady cages blocking mutant powers, quicksilver being able to rescue a hundred people before the building expodes, but cant hit Apocalypse more than four times before he stops him.

Still at least they used some alternative takes from the scenes in the trailer that weren't quite as hammy as initially thought.

But the ending!

Sorry I wiped your memories, Moria.
Oh you!

And Magneto, all those thousands of people you no doubt killed, we can forget all that because you helped rebuild the school.

Side note

In order to find this thread I had to scroll through 8 pages of celebrity deaths.

I'm at the point in my life where I don't just automatically watch every super hero movie anymore. Haven't seen Fantastic Four, Batman V Superman or Suicide Squad, doubt I ever will. If I know I'm not going to enjoy them, what's the point? I'll probably remember to watch this eventually though.

Yeah, Fantastic Four was a dreary snoozefest. BvS, and Suicide Squad were kinda, bland and boring as well. The action scenes in BvS were cool, and Margot Robbie in skimpy clothes is always worth a watch. Wonder Woman looks pretty good. But, the highlight will probably be the sheer sex appeal of Gal Gadot, And not the actual movie. Kinda like Suicide Squad I guess. That chick that played Enchantress has an odd sex appeal despite her unnaturally large eyebrows. I saw Dr.Strange, and it done a pretty good job of capturing the weirdness of the comics. A visually stunning flick if nothing else. Rachel Mcadams hot as usual. Even in nurse scrubs. Haven't seen her do much lately.

I'd like to see a comedy action flick with Quicksilver. I like Evan Peter's potrayal of him even though i prefer the huge dickhead version of Quicksilver from the comics. He was the highlight of the X-Men movie for me. Not my favorite x flick, but enjoyable nonetheless.

I liked this more than the previous movie, but it did have a weirdly low budget feel to it. I'm sure it cost a bomb, so maybe most of the money went on the stars. Dunno. But I thought it was pretty enjoyable. The only frustration, which I find with all these movies, is that we don't actually see them use their powers very extensively. There'll often just be a couple of moments in each fight scene for each character. I'd like to see something a little more prolonged.

I finally watched this. It was too long and sometimes pretty boring. The first hour is spent on introducing the characters. That's probably a sign that you have too many characters! Most of them didn't get particularly memorable introductions anyway and ended up not doing much.

The Quicksilver scene was a well done scene in isolation (and he was one of the few characters who had an entertaining personality) but does open up the problem of him being ridiculously overpowered (until the end fight, like whisky said.) It was funny how he just happened to have left his basement for the first time in ten years(!) right when the school exploded. And that he was too busy doing quirky things to remember to rescue Alex.

Sophie Turner looked hot but can't do an American accent. Olivia Munn looked hot but got like two lines. Rose Byrne was pointless (and because of the time jumped meaning it's been TWENTY ONE YEARS since we last saw her Xavier had to make a stupid joke about her not looking a day older) and we don't even see how she reacted to getting her memories back. Angel died in a plane crash even though he could fly.

It was funny how before the movie came out everyone was complaining that Jennifer Lawerence would get too much screentime and ruin it, when actually she hardly got anything to do at all. She didn't even have a fight scene.

The part with Magneto in Auschwitz was pretty good (though it was kind of disrespectful to have Pysclocke standing there in her hooker gear?) and it seemed like they were finally making him an outright villain given that he killed possibly millions of people...then he just turned good again at the end.

What even were Apocalypse's powers? Sand powers? But also the ability to give people sexy new outfits.

The whole thing with Stryker that was just there to get a Wolverine cameo in was a waste of time. It just felt like Bryan Singer wanting to get in everything that's ever been in one of his X-Men movies.
