Just finished this a minute ago. Like with Arwen this picture is A3 in size so was too big for the scanner so I spliced it, so you may see a slight colour difference in the paper.

I drew this freehand and getting the proportions right was a bitch. First time I have ever drawn a horse, let alone having link ride it. It's not finished yet, I may colour it. Or not, who knows.

Make the body of the horse slightly larger and more chiseled, or do the opposite with the head.

Link never struck me as a Conan, so his figure looks good to me. I haven't been following the Zelda games since the first GB game but I'll assume that's the Master Sword.

I was always struck by the futuristic look of it. You obviously don't need to adhere to the game's imagery, but you might want to put a little bit more focus on the sword by making it stand out somehow. The sharper curves on what looks to me like the SNES game's sword would do that, although you had the right idea in making the guard wider. Once again, no obligation to adhere to anything.

The first thing which came to my mind was this:

Link's legs should be slightly longer. I'd like to point out the fine job you did on the hooves. I'm have no formal art training nor am I an artist myself, but I'm guessing that the eye of the beholder would follow the horse's legs until it reached the ends.



I wouldn't be giving my blunt, armchair 'advice' if I didn't see potential.
 
His leg is what I am most displeased with.. It's not terrible and doesn't mess the picture up but I think I may rub it out and have another crack at it. I also might rub out the hilt of the sword and Links hand and redo them. There is room for improvment but mostly I am quite happy with it.

I am going to do a lot of shadow work on the horse to really bring out the raw power Stallions have. So yeah, a lot of chiseling will be happening on Epona.

I like it a lot more now the rendering is in place. I'm still not happy with Link's face. Which is weird because I drew another picture of Link the other day that looks awesome and I nailed his face perfectly first time.

Oh well.
 
Great sketch, Menty. Always liked Epona in the games, it just takes forever to get to her. Can you do one of Gannon? <g> The two of them locked in eternal battle?

Just kidding.
