Its an ironic note actually I think. Usually its "Jesus loves you. Smile" Or something like that.
 
I get annoyed when someone tells me to smile. I smile all the time, so for me not to smile must mean I am pissed off, and if you are telling me to smile it is only going to make me clobber you over the head. If you want me to smile, give me a fucking reason to smile then. And usually the person telling me to smile is the one I am pissed at.
