It only works if you're American though. Imagine a British person saying "douchebag." Just sounds wrong.
 
Oooooh! I just remembered gaming with someone from the UK- and they asked the meaning of the word. Real fun to explain.
 
There are similarities.

We use "Pikey" or "Chav" which are lower class white slurs.

You wouldn't call a black guy a Tosser though. So I make a shout for Tosser being a very effective white middle class insult. If you get very angry you can say Wanker.

Americans use "douchebag" because we're too timid to call people "cunts" in everyday discourse, like in the UK.
 
And also douchebag isn't a reference to a lady's vagina.

Yeah, I remember when they asked me and I explained and all they said was, "it is just soap" and that was that. They laughed.

I think John Oliver could pull off saying douchebag. HE PROBABLY HAS.
 
In the future there will be no more race or class divisions and we'll all be boohats.
 
I hear people at work (here in the UK) calling eachother douchebags, but now I think about it, those people are almost exclusively douchebags themselves, repeating what they heard from American tv.
