I had recording a HEADBANGERS match on VHS from 1998 or so and thought it must have been one of the last Gorilla did...turnes out he was doing commentary right up until death.

I started watching WWF wrestling around 1996-1997(the one good thing my college ex girlfriend introduced me to). I wish I had paid more attention to the commentators. I probably heard Gorilla comment on matches and never knew his name.
 
He would have only been on the weekend shows then (the least important ones.)

It's really lucky he broke his leg and the Everest climb is off, because there's no way he would have been able to resist diving off the top.
 
As someone who has been rolling his eyes at The Rock for the last decade more often than not, credit where it's due, he's leaned fully into the heel persona, and it's the best stuff he's done in YEARS.
