Let's have a moment here to talk about our greatest trolling adventures.

Like I said elswhere, over at TBBS Ptrope came up with the idea to do a watch thread for an "Enterprise" episode introducing the Romulans on an April 1 when there was a rerun scheduled. Maybe a half dozen of us were in on it and we improv'ed watching the episode while people went nuts, trying to find out why there was a rerun in their market.

I'm doing one right now, just like I'm ending many wars and solving many world problems, and negotiating great things. Yeah, I'm the best troll, the only troll, there are no others like me.

I remember that evening very clearly, even participated in that thread. Ironically, the canon-breaking idea of Romulans having a cloak during Archer's time was stolen from that thread for the second season by the Joos that were running StarTrek at that time.

Yes. Indeed.

Isn't he dead too?

Not to blow my own horn here but I once agitated an op type person on IRC so hard that he died of a coronary, which subsequently got me banned from the entire network.

Next?
Isn't he dead too?

I can't even remember anymore. Also, there may have been an irl troll that I did once and I don't want to admit it here. Also-I think one of the off shoot boards-I had to act like I cared and like I wasn't trolling because they accused me of trolling and I was like, "Noooooo I really want to be here, please let me stay" and it was excrutiating-maybe I was only trolling myself.

I guess I have had more than 1 IRL troll.
The funniest was that comic book guy-I went to one of his signings in West Seattle. and when he asked who to make it out to I think I said something like "To Love Child of Troll Kingdom" and or I might have said or requested him to please make it out to "Dork Lord" or Dark Pickle" and he exclaimed very loudly "LOVE CHILD?!"
And then he looked at me and asked what I was doing in a place like TK

That was pretty fucking hilarious.

Hellman-thats who it was. Danny Helman.

I didn't actually say it and it isn't "trolling" per se, but since I don't want to post over at The Other Place but I wanted to post in the "mouth off to a supervisor" thread, I will say that one time I had a terrible supervisor who held interminable meandering meetings and she wrapped up one December/January meeting by ad hoc asking people what their New Years' Resolution was. I was sorely tempted to say "I'm going to try to say 'n!gger' less."

Another time a meeting ended and then someone asked a question and it limped on for another 20 minutes, I desperately wanted to just get up and announce "Time's up! Let's do this, chums! LEEEEROY JENKINNNS!" and storm out of the meeting.

I don’t know about ‘great’ but my longest trolling adventure (still ongoing maybe?) started here.

Someone posted a link to a forum for a Christian radio station that was both broadcast and online (this was a quarter century ago so online wasn’t obligatory).

Z-JAM was the radio station and Z-Board was the forum.

Had quite a big listenership and even had a 24/7 helpline for kids struggling with issues like self harm, eating disorders and masturbation - The Teen Help Line.

A group of us raided and within a couple weeks were all banned. I contested my ban and as someone who grew up in the church was able to successfully argue for my reinstatement.

Again, grew up in the Church, was Jesuit educated I knew all the lingo and verses so while atheist was able to stay (I argued from a multipluralist Christian universalist position) and pretty much be the foil in most theological convos.

Eventually it turned out that the radio station/ministry/board was ran by a cult that used evangelicals taking a gap year before college to basically be slaves for a year and was shut down.

But the community survived and ZBoardReborn was… uh… reborn. And I was there. But in the tens engagements dropped as everyone thought Facebook was where it is at and it was failing. The person that started the new one was gonna dip out and I ended up paying for like 5 years of hosting. But eventually the community went to Facebook and then Facebook died.

However I’m still friends on other media with some of the cooler folks. One of which who was SUPER fundy (as in tried to join the Franciscan Order but after a year and half was told it wasn’t for them) is a quite successful trans writer and cartoonist.

So… yeah… great troll?

Oh god, I remember that. I think that was when they sicced the FBI on mm and Sardy and Sardy flipped out and bailed on the board, lol.

Well TK got the last laugh because when I said it was shut down I didn’t mean it ceased to operate.

I meant the state of Tennessee arrested the couple in charge and physically shut down the radio station.

Wage Theft and Involuntary Confinement.

They targeted fundy kids who didn’t know any better for interns and made them work ridiculous hours (the 24/7 Teen Help Line didn’t run itself) for room and board and doing gods work.
