Cole Anthony scores 26 in return from knee surgery, but Tar Heels fall

Boston Collegespoiled the return of Cole Anthony and added another blemish to North Carolina's résumé with a thrilling 71-70 victory in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, on Saturday. Anthony, who scored a game-high 26 points after missing the previous 11 games as he recovered from knee surgery, started 0-for-5 from the field before leading a come-from-behind rally and hitting the go-ahead score with 30 seconds to play. On Boston College's next possession, however, Brandon Robinson fouled Jared Hamilton on a 3-point attempt. Hamilton, a 77% free throw shooter, made two of three before Anthony missed the potential winning 3-pointer at the buzzer.

Vernon Carey Jr. had 26 points and a season-high 17 rebounds, Cassius Stanley keyed an early second-half surge and the Blue Devils (18-3, 8-2 ACC) won their third straight after a two-game skid. It was a crucial game for Syracuse (13-9, 6-5 ACC), which had a five-game winning streak snapped on the road at Clemson on Tuesday night and needed a signature win to bolster its resume for consideration for the NCAA Tournament.

No. 5 Louisville tops Virginia 80-73 for 10th straight win
The Cardinals (21-3, 12-1 ACC) led most of the way before the Cavaliers stormed back to go ahead 70-68 on Kihel Clarks two technical free throws with 3:25 left. Johnson's jumper tied it before Enoch's two free throws put Louisville ahead for good. Tomas Woldetensae had 20 of his 27 points in the second half for Virginia (15-7, 7-5 ACC), which finished 11 of 22 from deep and shot 53%.

Jones, Moore help No. 7 Duke top rival UNC 98-96 in OT
Duke (20-3, 10-2 ACC) rallied from 13 down in the final 4 1/2 minutes of regulation on Jones' contested shot after he ran down a long rebound on his own intentionally missed free throw. Anthony had 24 points and 11 rebounds for the Tar Heels (10-13, 3-9 ACC), who were unexpectedly in control of this one much of the way only to be undone by missed free throws and an inability to come up with one or two more clutch plays to close it out.

Walker, Williams lead Florida State's 99-81 rout of Miami
M.J. Walker and Patrick Williams scored 14 points apiece knocking down three 3-pointers, for the Seminoles (20-3, 10-2 ACC). Florida State connected on 13 of 26 3-point attempts. Isaiah Wong had a career-high 23 points on 8 of 12 shooting for Miami (11-12, 3-10 ACC).

Wendell Moore Jr. caps frenzied Duke rally to beat North Carolina in OT

Duke (20-3, 10-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) rallied from 13 down in the final 4½ minutes of regulation on Jones' contested shot after he ran down a long rebound on his own intentionally missed free throw. Then the Blue Devils had to rally from five down in the final 20.9 seconds after the Tar Heels had seemingly steadied themselves after looking staggered following Jones' jumper. Jones hit a free throw to tie it with 6.6 seconds left in OT only to miss the second, but Moore tapped the rebound beyond the 3-point arc to be recovered by teammate Jordan Goldwire. Jones got the ball and drove to launch an off-balance shot off one foot and missed everything, but Moore flew in behind Christian Keeling to snatch the ball near the left side of the rim and put it right back in. Anthony had 24 points and 11 rebounds for the Tar Heels (10-13, 3-9), who were unexpectedly in control of this one much of the way -- only to be undone by missed free throws and an inability to come up with one or two more clutch plays to close it out.

Duke: Jones offered a reminder of how good he can be in big moments. After big man Vernon Cary Jr. fouled out, the Blue Devils had to go small with Jones running the point with confident and aggressive precision. "He was at another level tonight," Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski said, adding: "He was a stud tonight, man."

UNC: For once, the Tar Heels' season-long struggles seemed in the past, and they had found probably their best mix of Anthony's ball-dominant style with getting the ball consistently in the post even while playing without No. 3 scorer brandon Robinson due to an ankle injury. And yet, the Tar Heels just as in their first-ever home loss to Clemson last month faltered at the most critical moments. Most glaringly, they made just 21 of 38 free throws, including 5 of 12 to end regulation.
