While Wednesday's NBA draft early-entry withdrawal deadline was the busiest in recent memory -- with more than 40 players announcing their decisions to stay in the NBA draft or return to college -- the top of the Way-Too-Early Top 25 was determined by a stay-or-go announcement more than a week before the deadline.

Final 4 teams Iowa, Virginia Tech to play in November
Both schools are coming off historic seasons. Iowa -- led by national player of the year Caitlin Clark -- returned to its first Final Four since 1993 and advanced to its first national championship game. Virginia Tech, meanwhile, made it past the Sweet 16 for the first time in school history.

The Iowa Hawkeyes and Virginia Tech Hokies, two 2023 Final Four teams -- will face off in the newly announced Ally Tipoff on Nov. 9 in Charlotte, North Carolina, the programs announced Wednesday.

Former North Carolina signee Simeon Wilcher announced his commitment to St. John's on Monday, giving Rick Pitino his biggest high school recruit since taking over
the Red Storm. Wilcher, ranked No. 28 in the ESPN 100, visited St. John's campus late last week, days after requesting a release from his letter of intent to North Carolina.Wilcher, a 6-foot-4 guard out of Roselle Catholic High School (New Jersey), initially committed to North Carolina in October of 2021. At the time, he was the first five-star prospect to commit to Hubert Davis following Roy Williams' retirement earlier that year.When Wilcher originally picked the Tar Heels, he chose them over Nebraska and an offer from Overtime Elite. But St. John's emerged as the clear favorite for Wilcher shortly after he reopened his recruitment.

.Men's. women's ACC/SEC matchups announced
The matchups for the first ACC/SEC Challenge were announced Wednesday morning, headlined by Duke's trip to Arkansas on the men's side and Virginia Tech's game against LSU on the women's side. The ACC/SEC Men's Challenge will take place Nov. 28 and Nov. 28, while the Women's Challenge is scheduled for Nov. 29 and 30.

The first game will take place on Nov. 8, 2024, in Lawrence, Kansas, with the return game scheduled for Nov. 14, 2025, in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. It will mark just the second time the two teams have faced each other at Allen Fieldhouse and will be the first meeting in the Dean Smith Center.
 
ACC commissioner says conference is strong, downplays strife
Phillips addressed the two biggest issues that face the ACC: a growing revenue gap with the SEC and Big Ten that has been the source of frustration and consternation, and the speculation that conference expansion could affect his league. While the ACC remains No. 3 in revenue behind the SEC and Big Ten, the revenue gap with those two conferences is set to grow when those two leagues begin their new television deals.
 

Four-star CB Charles Lester III commits to Florida State


Cornerback Charles Lester III committed to Mike Norvell and Florida State Fon Friday night. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Lester (No. 33 overall in the 2024 ESPN 300 and No. 5 CB), a four-star prospect who transferred to Venice High School (Florida) from Riverview High School (Florida) ahead of his senior year, immediately becomes the highest-ranked player in the Seminoles' class. Florida State, which went 10-3 in 2022, is coming off its first 10-win campaign since 2016 -- the final year of a seven-year stretch in which the program won at least 10 games six times (2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016). Lester would be the highest-ranked cornerback to sign with the program since Asante Samuel Jr. (No. 14 overall, No. 3 CB) and A.J. Lytton (No. 29 overall, No. 4 CB) both signed as part of its 2018 class.
